Does anyone have white walls in their kitchen?

Gosh, I haven't posted in forever but this forum is so inspirational. I live in a traditional Cape Cod. The kitchen has hardwood floors, white cabinets, wood counters, white apron sink. It's a dark-ish room with no windows that opens onto a dining room that is mostly windows.

Virtually every kitchen I love has white walls (Mrs Limestone is a good example). I worry that it will be too dingy in the kitchen and too washed out in the DR. My other thought was a light slate gray or grayish brown.

It doesn't help that I have painted twice in 4 years (apple green and pale aqua, neither worked), DH thinks I am nuts. We have two small children and spending time repainting just seems unnecessarily fussy to him. And, white walls with two toddlers also seems a little crazy...but I love the look (I think).

Any thoughts or suggestions are so appreciated!
