ordered hardware-now how to place the pulls? pics & long!

So I ordered the cabinet pulls and knobs. It was a tough one but went with my #2 choice in the kitchen and baths! I knew I would regret not using them in the baths eventually.

I plan on placing the pulls in the center of the drawers, however I have a couple of drawers (my pull-out trash bin and 2 laundry bins in bathrooms) that require a pull but I am not sure where to place the pull. It is the last cabinet on the left with a drawer above. Should I place the pull on the frame or just under the frame on the inset part of cabinet? I am going to center it horizontally as this is a pull out bin...

And I have the same issue in the kitchen. The trash pull out is the last on left. Ignore the stuff to the right, some of that has been updated!

OK and my last question (here at least) my DW now will be paneled in cabinet fronts. One false drawer over false door. Do I continue the look of knob below on false door and pull above on drawer, or just use a pull on the top

drawer?

I know so many questions but you are all helping me with all these little details that unless you live with them it is hard to know!

P.S. What is your opinions on putting pulls on false drawers under sinks? I think I would want a continuous row of pulls visually, especially in the baths.

Can't help with the DW, but I put my pull on my trash pullout's frame. My reasoning was that with two bins, there may be times when the pullout will be heavy and opening most of the height of the cabinet. The frame seemed stronger to me, so I placed it on the frame.

My trash pullout is the cabinet to the right of the 33" three-drawer base cabinet.

We didn't put ours on the frame, and that was a big mistake---the cabinetmaker is having to move it now because the MDF panel in ours (we have painted cabs) did not hold. So now I have my fingers crossed that he can patch the door and we won't have to order a new one---augh! And to complicate it further, the touchup paint we had mixed does not match the cabinets by a long shot, so either our paint store mixed the color wrong or our cabinetmaker's paint store mixed it wrong. Heading back this weekend to see, and hoping it's ours and they can fix it easily. Ugh. Otherwise, we have to lug a cabinet drawer in to try to get a color match. *sigh*

So---definitely on the frame! (The exception would be if your pullout has a wood box that the handle is going into, like with a drawer box---that will hold fine, but most trash pullouts don't seem to have that.)

Ok I just put two orders in this week. I was pretty restrained. I ordered 6 different, tall Penta plants and a Fuchsia triphylla 'Gartenmeister Bonstedt' from Singing Springs Nursery. (Thanks VTSkiers for pointing to this nursery!) For me, it is difficult to find the tall pentas at the nurseries near me. Also I struck out trying to get seeds for the tall pentas. So I told myself it was prudent to order them now! From Old House Gardens, I ordered some Canna, Dahlia and Gladiolus bulbs spending around $100 total for both orders. Other than a few packs of seeds that I'm going to get at the stores or the garden shows this is the extent of my orders. I mostly start seeds (that I've saved) and enjoy going to local nurseries in the spring time so I try to be restrained in ordering now.

Oh, I know the feeling. We're also doubling our house size by converting our 2 family back into a single family. Ordering the cabinets was stomach wrenching because it was such a commitment for me. I still keep second guessing myself. Today the contractor and I went over the additional 26 line items that were added to the original contract - big things like replace all knob and tube wiring in the 1825 house, upgrade to 400A service, change the garage fascade, architect designed bathroom with additional 16" not available so had to reroute a lot of existing plumbing that wasn't going to be changed... I think you're getting away with a steal only being 10% over for a MAJOR renovation. I haven't received my final number yet from my contractor but he's a great price and my estimates have been high. With a major home renovation there are so many more decisions. I have 2 gutted baths plus a new one - tile, sinks, faucets, lighting, color... Plus all the paint colors and lighting choices. Then there's doors, hardware, type of gutters, clappard... It seems to never end. Some times I feel overwhelmed too. Just hang in there. I don't think any kitchen decision comes easily! LOL. I visited as many stores for hardware as I did for granite! Mine are similar to your second pick in the knob, but the square version. I had looked at the pull #1, but I elected to go with something that didn't have any crevices that might be harder to clean. :) Here's a picture to give you an idea of what the knobs look like. My wood is quite dark. Sorry, with the angle I took this you can't see the little ridge around the outside edge, but it is there. Here's one with the flash on, and at an angle so you can see the ridge. The pulls are very very simple, but I like them. They look sturdy on the drawers, but don't overwhelm. These might give you an idea of size on your drawer fronts; they are 5" from end to end & look balanced on a 30" drawer. Look equally as balance on all my smaller drawers too, so your size pick should be fine.

Someone on a recent thread commented on a House Beautiful Kitchen feature. I went to the website and started browsing their featured kitchen. They had an Asian inspired kitchen with these really cool ring pulls -- bronzed, not stainless, but on slide 6 of the presentation to the right it tells where the ring pulls are from. I think Id say in the upper middle (not the frame) it just would look odd to me. it looks like it, but Hopefully yours are strong enough

Can i ask where they are from? Im still thinking I want to steal your pulls ;op

Steal away! Yes they are from PB. I already ordered them so not worried about selling out! I can not wait to see them installed! Happy place...

buehl- I think your trash pull out looks perfectly fine on the frame. I wonder if it will really stand out as being different on my white cabs.

Artemis- I didn't think about this! All my drawer fronts are mounted onto the inner drawers so they have the extra support. The trash does not have the inner box! I guess it will have to go on the frame in that case.

Next question on the list-
How about your opinions about putting pulls on the false fronts under sinks!! I ordered extra for this purpose but not sure if anyone actually does this. And what to do on the dishwasher panel? Again, it has false drawer above (will get a pull) and false door below (pull, knob, or nothing).

One thing to check before installing the handles. I notice that some of the drawer fronts are fairly short and the frame is fairly thick so the center area is small. It is difficult to tell the scale of the pull picture compared to the drawers, but sometimes when a pull is installed in the panel of a short drawer front, it makes the pull hard to use. You go to use the handle and find your fingers are kind of pinched between the frame of the drawer and the pull.

We didn't put pulls on the false fronts above the sink cabinet. I'd be a little concerned about the handle being in the way when working close to the sink. E.g. you are scrubbing a pot in the bottom of the sink and the handle is poking your middle. Sometimes, the false front isn't totally false - it can be a tip out to keep sponges or such in and in that case one might put a handle on it.

On the dishwasher, either nothing or matched to the sink cabinet doors next to it. How much do you want it to disappear (look like cabinets rather than a dishwasher)?
