Enjoy cooking a real dinner tonight! I was so excited when the ovens were hooked up that I used it that very night to make chicken strips- that was the closest thing to real food that we had in the house! And I was too excited to take the time to go to the store.

LOL Robin! As I was removing the adhesive from the top oven's window I was doing a little dance...my DH asked me what I was doing and I told him I was doing the "happy dance" 'cause I couldn't wait to use my oven!

Alku...the first thing I used was the Trivection oven...and it did indeed make baked potatoes & yams much faster than even a convection oven. The skins were nice & crispy on the white potatoes and the yams had that sweet taste that seems to only come from an oven-baked yam...not a MW baked yam!

Ever since I saw Alton Brown's video about the 17-minute baked potatoes I've been anxious to try it!

Yes, IglooChic, my cabs are Omega...a mix of Dynasty & Custom...and they are gorgeous! You're getting Omega, too, correct? We've only had one factory problem with the glide in the drawer under the MW drawer, but they're going to replace that glide for us. The wood, stain, glaze, & construction are all wonderful...I haven't found a single problem! They must have great QC! At first I was really missing my "Artesia" door, but now I think it may have been too busy. Don't get me wrong, I still love it, but I think my Anson door is actually a better door for my kitchen. I'm planning to "build" a hutch in the DR out of Omega cabinets and I may use the Artesia there (in a couple of years!)

the finish on omega is so fabulous :) and i love that you can get that same finish between the two lines. we ended up going alll custom because almost every cabinet was and if you're only doing one or two dynastys its not worth the savings for the order hassel.

My cabinets came a couple of weeks early...the reason for starting early originally...so maybe yours will be here sooner than expected? Either way....go out and have some fun with your son in the "summer weather" and the time will fly by!

[The Swim Club opens this weekend....but it's only been in the 60's around our house...the kids can go swimming tomorrow if they want, but the water's too cold for me!]

BTW...I hear you about getting all Custom...I'm wishing now I had at least done all the uppers custom to get the finish inside, out, top, & bottom...only 2 uppers and 2 or 3 drawer bases are custom for us, so there was a substantial savings (both the Artesia & Anson doors are available in both Custom & Dynasty).

Talk about timing - I just logged on to see if you had posted anything resembling pics! Way to go on that beeeuuutiful kitchen. I can't believe it's finally here. As others have said, I love that granite - it is sharp, sharp, sharp. I'm so tickled for you!! Hope the rest comes together soon.

Our flooring guy is coming Sunday morning at 9:00am (??) to do a check measure (Kitchen place is dealing with someone new- again!!), so might be able to get mattress and box spring out of LR and move back to the BR sometime in June- yippee- we'll be doing our own special 'happy dance' if you know what I mean!

Thanks everyone! I've been "visiting" my kitchen all day just to be in it finally! We ran the DW for the first time today...fairly quiet but not silent. I think the kids are finally "getting in to it" now that they can do things in the kitchen. Before, it was "ho hum"!

I only have half of it, but I'm still so happy!

i did want to do the combo to save some bucks :) i'm glad that worked for you...its amazing how much you can save that way using these two lines...kind of a rare thing in the cabinet world really. thats what i was trying to talk charlikin into in the sink verses dw thread. i should point them here for a great example of the seamless flow between lines!

mine are actually here...have been for gosh a couple of months. the were in the warehouse, but since were close they're now parked and locked up in a trailor full of alarms in the front of the house lol even i can't get in to look at them without setting off my gc's alarms! he worries about theft :) but man i'd like to peek in those boxes!

Our cabinets sat in our garage for almost 3 months (1/14 - 4/8)! I was very impatient to get them in as well, but there were too many obstacles at the time...most resolved now, thank God!

Can you handle another compliment on your gorgeous granite and bay window/sink set-up? Love your view, you are going to have many serene moments going into the kitchen for a cuppa and looking out the window, stroking the granite! Loved your appliances too! Glad to hear that it was worth the wait.

Thanks Neesie & Rosie....we love that view out the window as well...it's one of the reasons we put a countertop there (it used to be a very shallow eat-in area). I am so grateful for Fothia's window posting way back last summer 'cause when I saw that I knew that was what I wanted! I think it's the first thing I got from the Forum!

Oh, oh I'm salivating! Your kitchen is so nice. 1/21/08... is that right? I actually thought it had been a great deal longer for you. Anyway, my remodel started 1/21/08, too. Tomorrow, (holding my breath) I may actually have a working cooktop, oven and dishwasher. And if we can get the monster fridge through the door, I will have a refrigerator. I'm kinda nervous. HA! Bad part, I'm leaving the very next day and will be gone for a week. I told hubby he absolutely could not use the kitchen till I get back. Is that wrong? LOL! It's MY baby....I feel like I gave birth to it and I want to be the first one to feed, change, and love on it.

Your kitchen is stunning. I'm so glad that everything is coming together so nicely. I was THIS close to getting cabinets just like yours, but ended up ordering off white. Sure hope I didn't make a mistake! Anyhow, I thought of you last week. I went to Home Expo with my mom to look at backsplash tile just to get a few ideas. I would never use HE, especially after what you went through. The "tile" lady was telling me and showing me what I "absolutely have to get", and "this is what everyone is doing". She really talked town to me and treated me like I was an idiot. I chuckled and left. Thought you'd get a kick out of that story.

Barb...I got a chuckle out of it and out of the fact that you're not the first one to say you wouldn't go w/EXPO b/c of my problems. They just don't seem to get it that in this day & age of the internet, any time they give someone a hard time the story will spread far & wide!

Mustbnuts...I'd say maybe 75-80% done....this is what the other side of the kitchen looks like...

We also have no toe kick on any cabinets + furniture molding + in-cabinet lights, about 1/3 of the outlets/lights aren't finished, etc. So, there's still quite a bit to do...but at least it's semi-functional!!!! I'm OK with it taking a while to finish...I'm just glad to get a DW back!
