Does anyone grow a Japanese Maple 'Orange Dream'?
Comments (22)I am a collector of Japanese Maples. I now have 12 different varieties. I am in zone 5, and have never lost one yet. I have been collecting for 6 years. This spring I purchase a Peaches and Cream on Ebay. My favorite seller is Mapletopia. I have never had a problem with them. I have had problems with other sellers so I stick with Mapletopia. I have it planted in morning sun and afternoon shade. I am excited to see what the results will bring to my garden. If you are looking for a tree that is a brilliant orange in fall, the Orange Flame is the right tree for you. I have one paired with a Grandma Ghost which is a bright yellow most of the growing season. The Orange flame is a bronze in the spring and becomes green and bronze as summer progresses. It is the most on fire orange you could ever imagine in the fall. My Grandma Ghost is now 4 years old and my Orange Flame is only 2 years old. My photo shows Orange Flame in the Bronze (springtime) stage. It is located at he bottom left in the photo. Grandma Ghost shows brilliantly to the upper right of Orange Flame. I have added in the Purple leaf Sand Cherry bushes for more contrast and texture. Hostas and Sedum also share the garden. (Sorry, I rotated the photo in my gallery, but it still posted on it's side)...See MoreCan't sleep...dreaming of granite! Help!
Comments (8)I use Percoco Marble for all my jobs. Trust me when I say they are the best in Denver. I tried alot of other fabricators and found that Percoco Marble is the most knowledgeable, they have the most professional people on staff, there showroom and shop are amazing, and all the stone fits perfectly everytime and looks outstanding. I would not recommend anyone else in the Denver area...See MorePlease help me find name of granite on hgtv Dream House 2007
Comments (7)Kelleg,I'm not too familiar with the show, so Im not sure and Ive found hgtv's web site to be pretty user "unfriendly" so Im having a hard time finding it for you. I saw the show in November of 2007. There is a slideshow on her website (linked above in my original post) and the pic of the kitchen is about the 17th picture. I have the episode taped. There must be a way to view the episode online, Im just not that internet savvy, I guess to find it. LOL It was funny when she called me because I felt like a movie star was calling me LOL, since I have so much respect for what she did to that amazing home. Comments (149)Howdy!!! Seems like this thread is relatively active. Not to beat a dead horse but if someone could help, we’d be so appreciative! We are finishing out a kitchen remodel and got our countertops installed Wednesday. We told the salespeople we wanted counters that were as white as possible but we could not do marble because we have five kids and can’t deal with stains or etching. I told them we likely needed granite and that I prefer granite typically. The salesperson sold me on Luce di Luna which I think is the one y’all have mentioned as not actually being quartzite? The person who sold it to us said it was a real stone (unlike quartz) and that it was more practical than marble because it won’t etch/stain and works like granite. We’ve used it for all of 36 hours and I noticed tonight MANY marks (forgive me I forget whether they would be “stains” or “etches”) on the island overhang where said children have sat to eat multiple meals. We are very clean people but didn’t anticipate any issues and thus didnt thoroughly clean the counters till this evening when I unpacked the cleaning supplies that had been boxed up from the remodel. Here’s some photos. So two questions: is there any chance this is indeed quartzite? We took a razor blade to it and saw only a minor scratch that wouldn’t be noticeable. And 2. Assuming this is our new reality, is there any way to repair marks like these so at least we can get a “do-over?” Can’t believe we trusted the “experts.” We are very disappointed and discouraged. Thanks for any pointers!!...See MoreRelated Professionals
