My former cabinet guy kept saying, "don't worry about it" and "I've been doing this for 30 years, trust me". OMG, needsometips08, I know exactly what you mean! I had a similar experience with the cabinet maker our designer recommended. I don't think she meant to come off that way but when I asked about thickness of drawer bottoms, she replied, "Don't worry, we know what we're doing." !!! I never implied she didn't. I only wanted to know what we'd be getting for our money. We're not going with that cabinet maker, btw. megpie77, which kind of soapstone do you have? I don't think we have as many options in the PNW (I'm in Portland) as there are in other parts of the country, which is a pity because I've always loved soapstone kitchens. Did you have any problems finding a fabricator? Your kitchen is lovely, btw.

Hydrangea, I think you might find that you could go to a showroom like say a KitchenCraft in Bellevue and have luck with their cabinet lines, since they carry Dynasty/Omega - higher end, they may be able to accommodate you. You might check with Canyon Creek in Monroe, WA also as they are able to do semi custom - but not sure about full extension 30". For custom cabinets, I've seen good work from Woodinville Cabinets, in Woodinville. ABC Cabinets out of Tacoma did some extra deep 48"+ drawers for a specialty storage area for a client of one of the builders I worked for in the past. You might also want to check out Acorn Custom Cabinets in Newcastle, although I think they may have gone through some reorganization or new ownership since I last saw their work. There are so many cabinet shops, it's hard to know who to name in particular. Some shops are great on one job and have problems on the next. The ones I've listed above, I have seen in the past and they would at least give you a place to start. Good Luck!

to colin3: I noticed this is an old thread, but I am in the market looking for a cabinet maker for mast bedroom, closet and Bath. I need built-in cabinets, vanity, linen cabinet and closet shelves, etc. Not big job but want something solid. How's you job turned out? I call this place yesterday and will go take a look when I got chance. It seems they are not very busy right now, maybe it is good news for me. Thanks
