orb with black galaxy granite?
Comments (2)Black Galaxy is the one with copper coloured inserts right? I think ORB, especially if it had a hint of copper would be gorgeous! Love your inspiration picture!...See MoreBlack Galaxy granite opinions??
Comments (11)Check the absorption rate...I think you'll find it's too dense to take a sealer (absorption rate From the Stone Advice thread (linked in the "Read Me" thread): BUT: Not all stones need sealer either. Stones like Blue Pearl, Ubatuba, Black Galaxy, Verde Peacock, Verde Butterfly, Platinum Pearl and many others are too dense to absorb any liquids - sealers included. Sealers only protect stone from staining through absorption, so in stones with low absorption coefficients, sealing would be superfluous. Sealing dense stones could lead to nasty results, such as streaking and ghost etching, so DO NOT go by the motto of "seal it anyway, it could not hurt". Rather test your stone for absorption by dripping water on it to see if it darkens any. If the water has no effect on the stone, sealing it is unnecessary. Comments (7)As Weissman mentioned, if your Black Galaxy has a sealer on it, the sealer could be causing the problem. If sealed, the sealer is most likely just sitting on top of your counter b/c Black Galaxy is too dense for sealer to penetrate. This can lead to ghost etching, streaking, haze, etc. (And a bump in hope Kevin, StoneGirl, or other expert/pro might see this.)...See MoreBlue is the Night granite - anyone have it? vs. Black galaxy.
Comments (3)I use a remnant of it for a bathroom vanity (the store called it "Blue Polare". I loved it so much that when I wanted to renovate two other bathrooms, I searched at least 15 other granite companies. Only one had even a full slab to look at, but no remnants. Most of the salespeople said it was quite rare, thus so costly. If I had LOTS of money, I would definitely put it in my kitchen and other areas. I did find a remnant of Blue Volga for one bath....it has those beautiful irridescent blue-green pieces in it, much like Blue in the Night has the blue. I just think there is just no comparison between the appearance of Blue in the Night and black galaxy, IMHO...See Morejann_s
