Does anyone still do picture puzzles? Need info
Comments (13)I love jigsaws, but haven't bought one in years. These days, I prefer doing the ones on the Castle Mountain Website. They used to add one a day--now it's gotten pretty sporatic, but you can access all the past ones, so if you're just starting to use the website, you'd have lots of choices. The puzzles on this website are SO much like the real thing--only ones I've found online that are that close to doing an actual puzzle. only thing that's different? You don't have to turn the pieces rightside up before you start--LOL! Check it out, you may like it better than the cardboard ones, and it's free, so you save a lot of $$$...See MoreShutter (Interior) Questions
Comments (9)bfor, To clarify, the $22.50 quote for the Norman composite was for the Bel Air z frame. I initally felt uncomfortable with the process of getting quotes because I knew nothing about shutters. When I met with several Norman dealers for in-house consultations, I had them give me quotes on several frame options: 1) Bel Air z frame semi-inside mount, 2) 3 inch Crowne Z semi-inside mount and 2) 2 types of outside mount "Deco" frames: Classic and Cambor. It may seem a bit much to go through all that trouble but I wanted to get as much info as possible in case I changed me mind so I wouldn't have to keep going back to them and asking for more quotes. Because it's time consuming for them to do all those calculations, the dealers might get back to you by email. If you already made up your mind about the type of mount and frame, then all this is unnecessary but be sure to get written quotes for each door and window. Some may be flexible on price. If you find a company you're comfortable with, you might be able to negotiate a better price by asking them to match a competitor's. Others match the lowest competitor price no matter what. All of the dealers who gave me quotes were more than happy to oblige me with any questions and quotes. They know from experience that not all consultations will lead to a sale. One dealer told me that he had a customer who asked for quotes five times. It might be a good idea to get quotes on other brands too including locally made shutters. It wouldn't hurt. Angie's List is another way to check out customer reviews of local businesses in your area. If you haven't joined already, you can contact them first to see whether your state is included. It's a fee based service. I chose the $4/month plan because I'm doing other projects around the house. For newly listed states where there are not too many customer reviews, I believe the service is free. Good luck on your shutters. Comments (41)I wound up painting the shutters black, the door yellow and the sidelights white. Not sure if it's exactly the right yellow, but I'm so much happier with it now, that I'm not going to do anything more to it. I did replace the lights, but I don't think they're big enough. When I get the courage to tell DH that I don't think they work(LOL!!), I'll figure out something else. I'll get some pics tomorrow and post them....See MoreAre plantation shutters still in style
Comments (8)This is the house that we are purchasing. The front windows are- dining room, garage, (downstairs) master closet, 2 upstairs bedrooms, and an upstairs window open to entrance hall. The lot is fairly small and there is no view other than street in front and yard (backs up to another house) in back. I like light but I also will close the blinds/shutters in the evening. House faces east. In our current house we have bamboo shutters and while I like them, I’m thinking I might want a change and a little more privacy in the new house. I’ve also negotiated some of the cost of the window treatments into the purchase price (I will get them at cost to builder and he will install)....See Moredeborah1950
