Help with home office furniture

Do you know a reasonable priced module home office furniture manufacturer? I'm turning an old porch (now heated) into an office and kids computer/homework area. The room is 7' x 17' with 5 + 2 windows on 2 sides. (The other long side has 2 doors and will have book shelves between them). I plan to put file cabinets, drawer cabinets, etc along the 2 window sides with the corner for my monitor and an area for 2 chairs for the kids monitor on the long window side. I will probably use a laminate top. This area can be seen from the dining room and sitting room thru windows or french doors. I know Kraftmaid makes home office furniture. Who else should I check out? Ikea didn't seem to have enough different pieces for me. Any other ideas for the office?

I am currently looking to do something similar in a spare bedroom in our house. I want to make it into a home office where I can do crafting and balance the checkbook and just have a place to spread out and do paperwork. I am considering the Bedford modular collection by Pottery Barn. I also am interested in the home office modular collection with Ballard but leaning towards the Pottery Barn one at the moment.

Based on your screen name, I'm assuming you're in the Boston area? There is some excellent quality office furniture at liquidators. There are several in Boston area - I linked to one, plus there's another one I know in Somerville on Broadway, http://www.oflsave.com/.

The Custom Shoppe is my selection. You can customize the dimensions, Choose the species of wood (they have cherry but no Mahagony) and have a number of different finishes. Pricepoint may be around $3000 though. Hooker just announced the closing of their last domestic production plant so the chances of you getting Hooker USA made is unlikely. Your $2500 pricepoint is primed for an import product. However If your lookin for USA made your going to pay a little bit more. However you will get what you want and the finish you want it in and the size you want it at. Also Look at Sligh furniture. They have Imported Home office of pretty good quality. The desk is cool. But the color is off from the pictures I can see. You can call a local and see if they can install it. And sand and restain to match. Or maybe you can paint over the walls ? 🤭😬

I always buy Hon. They are real office furniture so the drawers operate smoothly even when fully loaded with paper. Don’t be fooled by good looks. Physically pick up a case of paper. Feel the weight? So will your drawers. Cheap drawers will rack and bind.

We used Techline and I can't say enough positive's regarding quality for the money. We have the black laminate with cherry top and at the time we purchased a 48 x 30" desk cost $300. Don't know if that's reasonable for you but when we were shopping for desks everything cost much more and did not feel durable.

The hardware on their drawers are heavy duty and you'll find nothing is lightweight.

I have Jesper (Scandinavian style - finishes/colors include espresso, maple, and cherry)...very inexpensive and functional and looks great. Many choices of components so you can find the right configuration for your needs....

When we did our home office, we first worked with companies that specialized in custom closets, like Closet World. They were a one stop solution for the pieces, counter tops, as well as installation. Costco even works with a closet company who gives a rebate to Costco customers. They would also help with the layout/design. Due to an odd configuration, we ended up getting a quote from a custom cabinetmaker which was very comparable so we went that route and couldn't be happier since we got exactly what we wanted. Instead of laminant, we went with maple and the cost for the desktop alone was surprisingly much less than a laminant.
