I finished painting my table.. but how do I protect it?

You are all so amazing with all things decor!! I know there are other forums I could probably ask this but I feel you are all as knowledgeable and really helpful.

I finished that console table I mentioned last week.. i sanded it, attempted to do a two tone look (top matching my kitchen cabinets and the bottom black), however, that didn't work out so well. The stain on the table looked WAY different than on my cabinets as it is two completely different types of woods.

So I re-sanded the top, primed the whole table and painted it black..

Clearly not a professional job, but not so bad for a first timer..

My question is what can I put on the table to protect the paint from chipping or turning various shades of black? It is still in my garage and accidentally my daughter opened the garage door of the bay it is in. Water dripped on the table and it has small water spot. I have fixed it but i am afraid that will happen once it is in the house with actual stuff on it.

Thanks for your help as usual!
