You may remember my post months ago with my den inspiration photo and the furniture items I collected for the den at the flea market. If not, here is the inspiration pic...

We started by painting the walls SW Restrained Gold. We left the ceiling the tan color (not sure if we will change it or not) then added the flea market furniture we had bought. Hubby installed the swing arm lamps and hung up the antique window that I made into a mirror. Leopard border rug was added on the floor (I know it's a bit small but for now it works) Oh and we couldn't find a leather ottoman that was in the budget...so we bought this one through Amazon. It opens for storage.

Hubby and I just bought all the wood for the shelves, so plan on starting that next weekend...yay! Not sure if we will stain it or paint it dark brown.

We need help deciding what color to paint the base, crown molding and closet doors....help, we need suggestions.

Looks great so far...great job! I don't understand where the shelves are going though. Is there a wall we are not seeing?

You're well on your way...great finds! Looks like your inspiration room has molding to match the shelves. That might keep everything more cohesive. Will be fun to see what you do with the rest.

Casey ~ All I can say is WOW!!!!! That is really an undertaking and you all have done a fabulous job so far! I think what you're doing is much harder than starting from scratch with all new stuff, but it will be so worthwhile. Everything just looks great. I love love love your kitchen faucet. I woke up this morning to find the filter pressure already 10 psi over backwash pressure. So I learned how to backwash today. Took like 5 minutes. All that plaster dust really gunked up the filter. It seems to be holding at a lower pressure today. Well, that's all folks. 18 days from dig to turn on. And all workmanship is of high quality. The stone sub is coming back tomorrow to add more stone to the rock beam, because the builder wasn't satisfied with the look. Other than that, we're good to go. I got in for about 30 minutes yesterday. It's still pretty chilly, but it gave me a good chance to put on some goggles to do an underwater inspection. Everything looks good. Now comes Pool School and learning how properly maintain it.

thanks maggiebkit. yes, they are inset but i omitted the rail between the drawers so that I could have a little bit more interior space inside my drawers. The 3 drawer banks on either side of the range have 3 equal sized drawers (rather than shallow, deep, deep) because I wanted the top drawer to the left of the range to have a 2 tier cutlery divider. When you open the drawer it looks like a normal cutlery divider drawer but if you push the drawer forward, there is a section below lined with pacific cloth and with little slots for my sterling silver. I have never had easy access to my sterling and therefore haven't used it much even though it is the most beautiful pattern I could imagine. It will be really nice having it handy. The 3 equal sized drawers will be nice I think as I am not sure I really needed the extra height for my colanders and tupperware, bread, etc. that are going in these other drawers. Across the aisle in my peninsula I have a 3 drawer bank with the top drawer being shallow for utensils and the two below it being deeper for my pots and pans.

Imrainey - thank for the kudos on the arch. It took some convincing to get my DH to do it. It was initially cut out square and looked too much like an "after thought" to me, so I begged him to do the arch to match one in our living room. He wasn't sure his drywall skills were up to it. You can't see, but there's also another one by the fridge that leads to our basement/back doors. He did good! Mariposa - yep! Love the bling! Unfortunately, I was lifting my son out of his high chair and bumped his head into the glass shade that goes underneath. (Bad mommy!) Glass shattered all over him! Tempered thankfully - no damage to son, but now I have to get another shade! Splinky - our cabinets are Ikea Abstrakt. Pulls are also Ikea (Strecket) - 2 for $12 for the largest size! What a deal, huh? We also considered Marmoleum, but decided on the uniform wood throughout. Our concrete counters will be left natural (at least that's the plan right now) so they'll be a silvery gray. Definitely look at Ikea cabs - great deal. And they do have more traditional styles as well. Natesgramma - yep, that's a shiny new DW. Actually the lack of DW was the main impetus for the remodel! Thanks to you all for your nice comments. They are very encouraging. I'll post some more photos once we are at the end with our counters and windows.

Cindyloo...shelves are going to be going all around the sofa, like the inspiration pic.

OlyChick...I agree with you on the crown & base molding, however those closet doors are so large that if they were dark brown may really make them stand out like a sore thumb and make that small room look smaller.

Anyone up for photoshopping this??

Idea mom, could you paint the doors the same as the walls? Just an idea, but not sure I'm sold on that myself. I think I would paint them dark.

IMO, a gold/medium brown color would be great with the Restrained Gold~~paint, not stain. A warm color, rather than dark, would keep the room from becoming too drab. Love that inspiration room!! ;o)

Maybe even replace the closet doors with curtains - the fabric you have works so well with your room.

Or paint them the room color and decorate the panels - either with stencils or prints?

I would paint the closet doors the wall color. What color are the shelves going to be? That is what I would do with the trim. If not, I would consider doing it all the wall color.

palimpsest-The shelves will either be a dark brown stain or dark brown paint. I think what I would really like if money wasn't an opject would be to change the closet doors to some dark wood louvered dors or something that would give it a british colonial feel. However I need to work with what I have.

I had a designer friend of mine say to paint all the trim & doors the same color as the walls too, but I just feel that would take away from having the crown molding installed in the first place. Oh I sure wish I could have someone photoshop this so I can see how different colors would look!
