Sectional Sofas...a good idea? or don't go there?
Comments (39)Just to update, we finally ordered a sectional from Century. It is L shaped with a loveseat on one wall and a sofa length on the other. The good thing is that it is 43" deep so it should be very comfortable to lay on. We chose a chenille type fabric in a greenish tone. We started the room's decor off by picking 2 oriental rugs and pulling colors from that. The sofa comes with 7 throw pillows, so I chose 2 different fabrics for 4 of those. We'll see if it works or not when it comes in! On another note, once we started to choose decor, we realized the color on the walls was pukey and we had to get the painters back to change from blue to brown. I'm so glad we did that. It really warms up a basement room with no windows. The lighting is what made color selection so tricky. Also in there, we got a leather recliner from Hancock & Moore. And the really neat looking Wisteria Barn door coffee table. Funny thing is that when it arrived, it really did smell like a...barn door! Fortunately that smell has disapated....See Moresectional sofa help
Comments (5)I have a purple (!) microsuede slip-covered sectional;about 10 years old. I was leery at purchase time b/c it was not at all what I'd imagined, but it has been wonderful. It cleans easily with a wet paper towel (until it's time to toss the slips into the washer), dog fur vacuums off easily, and it is soft and cozy but still stays tidy looking. The brand is Rowe (which does not have terrific online reviews ) but we've been very happy with it. The slips fit tightly and the purple color doesn't look crazy with my other furniture. The one problem is that the pieces do not fasten together well....See MoreSectional Sofas; how often do you move/rearrange them?
Comments (2)i think most people don't move around their furniture much... the only person i knew, who changed her family room up at least once every few moths was my grandma, lol. i don't know why, but she got bored with the layout and constantly switched around her sofa, 2 chairs, coffee table, and tv table. i don't know how she did it, because that stuff was HEAVY ! but again, i don't think it's the norm. some say it's because she was a virgo... from my experience of 17 years in the custom sofa and custom sectional business, most people don't move around their sectional. i can count the "modular" sectionals we made on two hands, so it's rare. and the only way to change your sectional configuration is to make it modular, like this one :) xoxo eva @ MONARCHSOFAS.COM *** FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM...See MoreArt with sectional sofa and transom windows
Comments (13)just a few ideas that I'd suggest. a plant in the corner where that little bench is. I posted two diff types, either would work. I gave you a side table w/a lamp on the other end. I like the idea of a pouf in this camel color to warm things up a bit, or do a stool or two placed in front of fireplace. I also like these shelves between the two windows. ( I don't know what furry dog is going to do with these,,,maybe have the toddler stand on his back?? lol. hang them well out of reach and they'll be fine. I'd put a few small plants on them. This will eat up that middle space) You could also take these teak decking tiles and attach a plant/pot onto it, and hang two of these between the transom windows. if you want a bench, do something like this in the wood. all of those neutral gray tones make everything seem very cool. add some wood and some texture to warm it up a bit. over the back of sofa do a cool piece of art don't hang them too high. (your tv is hung too high btw. ) and a rug for the sofa area A jute one would work too for the dining area, you could also do this jute rug like shown. for the wall, I'd do another piece of sizable art to hang on that one wall. This one has a larger wall, but look at the black and white picture. basically the same size of yours. you want something this big. Or, do a shallow buffet or console w/a mirror over it and some greenery, like shown here....See MoreLuAnn_in_PA
