Yours lets you use more than one coupon per transaction (one per item)? Mine won't. Thanks for the heads up.

She said coupon policies did vary by district, which is why I suggested checking with the local store.

Apparently they currently take expired ones around here, too. Think it is only one per item, though. If you get stuck, try them at another store, like LNT or something.

ours takes expired BB&B coupons, will take one coupon for each item, but only one competitors coupon per order.

Oddly, our LNT won't accept either expired coupons or BB&B ones - they're a bit pi$$y in general though. The BB&B here only allows one coupon per item, but you can use a stack of %-off-one-item coupons in one transaction. I don't think you can combine a per-item coupon and a %-off-whole-order coupon, might be worth a try. She didn't say if they only accept one competitor coupon per transaction, although with as chirpy as they were I wouldn't be surprised if, as long as the store's not busy, they let you break up a bunch of items into multiple transactions so you could use a bunch of competitor coupons!

BTW, if you order something from the website, bring the invoice and your coupon(s) to the store and they will refund you the difference.

Well I don't want to be a little pi$$y myself...but sheesh ladies could you have made me read this post earlier today? I just spent $400 at BB&B and didn't have any coupons :( Paint me stupid please! (That's not a photoshop request squirrely!)

At both the BB & B and the Linens & Things that I go to, the check-out clerks always have the coupons in their pockets to scan if I explain that I don't have one with me.

Go back to the store with your receipt and a 20% off coupon and they will give you a refund. At least that's what they do in this area.

I saw a gal use a 20% off coupon in the row next to me and I mentioned it (hoping they'd have one to apply) but she just signed me up for the mailing list :o( Oh well, maybe next time. I still need to buy a bunch of towels and other linnens for the new place. But it would have been nice to get a deal on the dishes I purchased.

When we shop at BB&B, the cashier reaches under the counter, produces a coupon and deducts it from the sale.

I'm must look like a nice guy. :)

They accept expired coupons??? i didn't know that. Here I was throwing away all the old coupons diligently..sheesh, i just threw out a bunch yesterday..Any other stores that accept expired coupons- Macy's, Kohls?

Thanks for the heads up - I have a drawer full of coupons that I need to use. My store currently lets me use expired coupons and up to 4 coupons per purchase.

Igloochic - they should give you a refund if you go in with your receipt and a coupon. If not, 20% of $400 would be worth the trouble of returning and then repurchasing the towels!

How crazy is this that some stores are clamping down on coupons? Is the economy in such great shape that BB&B doesn't realize that it's still in head-to-head competition with LNT? (And with Target, Wal-Mart, Kohls, HomeGoods, Marshalls, etc...)

At both stores, when I have seen a shopper near me without a coupon, I have offered him/her one--or more--of my spares (considering I have more than I can ever use). Sorry to have missed you, IglooChic!

Our store hasn't excepted expired coupons for a good year, now. They do except the multiple 20% off or the $5 off $15 coupon in one transaction.

Remember that some brand items cannot be bought using a coupon. Those dishes may have been on the list. I know Vera Wang is.

pammyfay, as with so many other things in life, some people abuse coupon policies and ruin it for everyone else. Many if not most of the stores (not just BB&B/LNT) around here will not accept printed-from-the-Internet coupons or anything except original coupons as provided by the store or manufacturer, because there are so many "forged" and "doctored" coupons out there. This is a particular problem around here with Lowes and Home Depot, there are big signs at the checkouts reading "we do not accept Internet coupons". Accepting competitors' coupons is getting to be a real rarity, too, as are price-match policies with any teeth in them to give you any incentive to shop at store A instead of store B if they both have the same items (f'rinstance I got into a polite argument with the manager at Lowes because their TV ads about how they match any other store's price plus give you 10% more off are misleading, they only give you the 10% if they have the item on the sales floor at the time of purchase - if it has to be ordered, even off their own website or transferred from another store because they normally have it but just don't have any on hand, no 10%!). I try to call ahead and ask.

BTW, the LNT here will not accept BB&B's (or anyone else's) coupons, nor their own expired coupons, nor more than one coupon in a transaction (and you better not try the "buy one item with a coupon, take it out to your car and come back in to buy another item with another coupon" routine more than once or twice, it doesn't fly at this one), and there's a list as long as your arm of all the things you can't use coupons on. This LNT's policies have always been MUCH more restrictive than BB&B's, so I've always been surprised at how accomodating BB&B's policies are! Neither store keeps a coupon at the register anymore though; I asked at BB&B a couple of weeks ago, explaining that I had moved and was not getting coupons at my new place yet. The manager signed me up for the mailing list again and suggested Freecycle or eBay! LOL

If I have coupons I'm not using, I always offer them to someone else in the store. I've also been known to just leave them on a shelf near the checkouts if the clerk won't let me leave them at the checkout itself for the next person. (If it's a direct-mail coupon I always scratch out the name/address/barcode, I'm not quite as dumb as I look! Almost, but not quite.) I also shamelessly admit to picking through the trash bins at the exit if I'm going in and need a coupon, since some people just throw them away rather than leaving them for someone to use. The local supermarket has these silly "save up points" things where they give you points for spending a certain dollar amount that you can later redeem for percent-off coupons or a turkey or some such foolishness, but I never get enough points for any reward by the time each one of these promotional periods ends because we just don't spend enough. The manager said they were transferable so I tuck the little "you have earned 1 point" slips in the candy display for someone else to take and use. Just seems, I dunno, unfriendly not to. It's not like it costs me anything.

I receive both regular mail, newspaper inserts, newspaper "cut outs" and email coupons. The email coupons have a specific (to customer) bar code to prevent duplicates. In other words, I could not make copies to give to my girls, and also use the original myself. Once the coupon is used, the bar code is registered and the copies would be invalid. What I can do, is send the original email to one of my girls and let them print it out for use, IF I am not planning on using it myself.
