Above windows: Stucco band or beam in stucco
Comments (3)i thought about nothing, but it looked plain on that big gable, so what about a beam or band above the windows on the gable and no jack arches on the brick part?? ahhhh. i don't know what to do and after today, i can't make more changes without being charged extra. eeeeek!...See MoreHow to Attach Decorative Panel???
Comments (6)I'd recommend pew1's technique. The thought of driving nails (even finish nails) through a finished surface just grates on my nerves. I often end up shouting at Norm Abrams on the New Yankee Workshop as he assembles some beautiful antique reproduction and he shoots a row of brads through the to-be-finished surface. (Maybe he's heard me, because in recent years he does it far less frequently. :-) For the finished back of the angled peninsula pictured below I decided to attach Accuride draw slides to the back of the cabinet and to the panel so that the panel can slide to the right exposing a hidden storage space between the run of base cabinets and the angled peninsula. I don't yet have an image with the panel open....See MoreMatch old stucco to new stucco
Comments (17)Houseful, If they go over the old stucco, not only will you never see what damage and leaks etc might need to be repaired - well maybe in theory the new stucco will protect it - your walls are going to get really thick. You might need to replace or extend window sills/flashings etc, since if they become recessed in the stucco, water will get behind them. Not good. I think the only way to get a satisfactory result would be to remove old stucco. I've done it, not fun. Mind you I dislike stucco from that point of view anyway :) Just because these guys SAY they can do it that way, doesn't make it so. Ask to see previous examples of this redo, and ask the owners how it's held up....See MoreNeutralize my red and gold decor....how do I decorate around my sofa?
Comments (3)I’m not a designer but I think your instincts are right. If everything else is super light I agree the sofa will look too dark and heavy. I think a light, warm neutral paint would be great, and accents of blue would make that gold sofa sing. I think your existing neutral walls look okay, actually. What if you just tried painting the red accent wall a nice mid tone blue?...See Morecattknap
