Any idea what he might be? We often get birds roosting on the beams in our covered walkway, there was another one the same as this guy last night. The little birds that are common here are Bewick's wren, chickadees, nuthatches, golden-crowned kinglets and Oregon Juncos. I think the sleeping bird is smaller than a Junco though. Once before I saw one of these in the morning and I think it was the Kinglet. It's sure hard to id a bird from its back end! btw, he's been here 6 nights out of 7.

Look at Frontgate, Costco and Gumps. I have had one from Frontgate for 3 years that I like. Very basic and traditional. I have one from Costco as well for front door. More ornate. They did have trad ones too. Manufacturer is Village Lighting or something like that. Just got new garland from Gumps. More ornate but I really like it. They are having 20% off right now and have less ornate ones. Frontgate is having % off right now too, depending on how much you spend. All that I have are pre-lit and battery operated.

So pretty. Wish I had a place to put one of those. Yesterday I was sitting in the library looking down towards the neighbors across the highway. Their ancient cedar pine lost a large branch in the high winds several days ago. Finally I called them and within the hour I was going down my road with my cart and across the highway to lop off as much of the green boughs as I could and filled my cart with them. There were little blue/white berries on them too. They are full boughs and perfect for swags and wreaths. The only downside is when the foliage dies, OUCH, very prickly when dry; so not sure I can bring too much inside.

Are they silk or preserved and dyed? It makes for a unique Christmas wreath that can stay up into the new year.
