Just my opinion, but I don't think they go. The predominant colors in the rug are peach, blue and red/rust. I think you need to find something in those colors or stick with a neutral white or off white. I really like the rug and the drapes--just not together.

I'm going to vote "no", and with sympathy, because you've found two great things that IMO will not work well with each other. The rug is fabulous. You'll find you draperies, maybe just not now.

I would work on blues and creams for your fabric.

I say no to the drapes...the yellow is too strong for the gentle peach that is in the rug. Sorry.

Beautiful rug. I would keep looking for drapes.

Sorry, I vote no too. No one can see the small amount of green you reference in your rug, the gold is too yellow to complement the rug, the red in the drapes is lipstick red, and the red in your rug leans more toward a burgundy red.

IMO it's best to work with the colors that are predominate in the rug. Perhaps look at drapes more like these images attached.

I agree with the nos. The drapes are bold in color where as the rug is muted. They seem to fight with one another. Sorry.

Thanks for the opinions, everyone. Beverly, can you share where you found the red and blue plaid drapes? I'm not a big fan of red usually, so I hadn't really considered predominately red WT, but those look nice.

I guess part of my indecision is not knowing exactly what the CL drapes look like in person. The narrow "red" stripe is actually orange, not red, and the owner took the photo outside so I'm wondering if the yellow is not really that bright or if the sage is washed out. The lighting in my room is quite filtered, so the rug is perhaps more richly colored than the camera captured. Seeing my rug in person, I don't think I would ever call it muted.

Since the consensus is "no", can anyone explain what makes yellows and reds work together in some situations? And why do the drapes and rug work in the inspiration pic, when they don't seem to relate at all?

One way to "carry"your rug with you is to get needlepoint or crewel yarn in the colors of the rug.

Is there any place else in your home the drapes would work if once you get them home you don't like them with your rug?

It's really hard to tell via photos that were taken in different lighting with different cameras if the two items will truly work together. If the price it low enough to make it worth buying and bring them home in the off chance they work beautifully together, I would do so.

Though you do have to consider the cost of gas and time for your trip it could still be worth it if you make it into a day trip for a fun outing to a town you rarely go to. If so, I'd say go for it.

The reason you cannot use the yellow, in this circumstance, is because of the salmony/peachy color. Red and yellow or gold work well together, but not with peach or dusty rose, thrown into the mix. In addition, your red is not a true lipstick red, but a red with lots of blue in it, which further complicates the design problem

We cant really see enough of the rug in your inspiration picture, but it looks like the blue and red in the rug are picked up as accents in the drapes..the yellow I think blends in with the overall tones...in "your" drapes the tones or intensity of colors seem off to me in comparison with the rug...your rug is more muted in color and the drapes are more bold...and I don't see any yellow or sage/apple green in your rug.
