'Historical' Peaches- BM Ansonia Peach or ??

I am not even going to pretend that I know anything about historical colors, but I want something that may have been found in an older (at least 60 years old, preferably older) home. According to BM, "Ansonia Peach" is part of the historical collection, so maybe it fits the bill?

I'm looking for a peach that isn't pale/washed out or pumpkin-y, and not modern or contemporary looking, either.

Any ideas?

BM's Ansonia Peach is definitely not pale or washed out, but it doesn't look like an easy color to live w/imo. Their Hathaway Peach (HC-53) is softer, but not pale, and may be more inviting. SW has Espalier Peach (DMV084) in their Mount Vernon Estate Collection & Pickney (DCR039) in their Colors of Historic Charleston collection, but I think I like the BM color the best myself. It has life & warmth w/out being harsh (& is not washed out). Good luck finding your shade!

stinky-gardener-- I looked up the SW colors on their site and can't seem to find them. Do you think they are discontinued or am I searching incorrectly? On my monitor, Hathaway looks absolutely gorgeous, but I'm afraid it wouldn't work with my rug:

I keep thinking that, with my rug, I need a peach with a brownish tone to it, which is what it looked like the Ansonia Peach would be. What do you think?

I just finished painting my spare bedroom putnam ivory this afternoon, and I'm not sure what to think of it... It kind of looked like flesh toned bandaids ( western exposure - setting sun). Hopefully I love it in the morning :) I've had a heck of a time choosing tan colors. Painted the kitchen & dining room BM wilmington tan one evening, and it looked awful the next day in full sunlight - like a butterscotch pudding explosion. I repainted it BM lenox tan and really like it. It's beige/tan/gold during the day and takes on a greenish cast at night which actually looks good also. Then I painted the mudroom & hallway BM shaker beige (on the same strip as lenox tan) but found it had pinkish tones in the daylight. I was thoroughly frustrated. Went back to the store and the very nice BM (Benjamin Moore) man printed out the formula for shaker beige and for 50% lenox tan. Almost identical, except the shaker beige had a tad more red tint. Went home with a gallon of 50% lenox tan and repainted the mudroom & hallway. It looks really similiar to the shaker beige but without the pinky cast in the evening. Next project to tackle - the master bedroom. Sheesh, can't wait to see what winner (not) I pick for the first coat, lol. If you go over to Decorating and click on the Gallery (see my link) you can try the golds thread and see if something works for you. It's so hard though, to choose paint for a home you can't test colors in. I spent a lot of time looking for a color for my bedroom, and even my tried and true choices looked muddy. I chose Laura Ashley Gold #3, which is a warmed browned gold. It can look light and nice during the day, much more intense at night. Another gold I tested after painting, was Tobacco Road. It was a Duron color, but Sherwin Wms has a strip of it, and you can buy a $5 test qt to try out in your house before actually buying paint. My first post to THS and the title is an embarrassing ungrammatical mess. Here are some pictures. I hope they post correctly. Dining room with family room beyond Living room east wall Living room and front door, viewed from dining room. East wall is off to the right around the corner. Dining room, with family room beyond, viewed from living room. Light blue is BM Woodlawn Blue, which looks too baby blue to me in the day, and too greenish at night. The dark blue is the BM Jamestown blue, which we like. The color in the family room is BM Monroe Bisque (seems a little too green to go with our couch), and the color in the hallway is BM Carrington Beige. We've painted a bit of BM Mink on some trim, but won't be going that way, except possibly on the front door, whenever we replace it (soon I hope). As you can see, we've made a mess. My wife says she has a hard time visualizing from sample sheets, so we've half painted the dining room. I'll be sanding most of it away with my new Festool, and skimming over the rest, so no big deal, I hope. I've spent lots of time on the BM website, and have collected many color swatches, too. 'Smoke' looks a little too baby blue to me.

It only took me a year to find a yellow with the hues I was looking for (what I used to call undertones). I have wood trim/floors with warm orange appearance. Last year, I accidentally chose a yellow paint with greenish tendencies and it was ICK with the floors etc. And dreadful at night. I have now found a delightful yellow that play up the apricot and it is lovely with the floors!! My wood in my house is something like this attached photo below and the colour of paint I have chosen is something like this same attached photo. Delightful combination imho. One piece of advice that I learned along the way: Not only does one have to paint test boards and move them around the house, it is not until one tests the paint on large pieces of wall that one will really know how your own house reflects and works with light. Paint colours that looked to be warm yellows with tendency towards apricot on the poster boards, then played rather green when on the actual wall. I learned that my house plays up green like crazy, so I had to move way over to a yellow with heaps of orange/red (almost an apricot paint tbh) to get it to show creamy yellow to creamy apricot-yellow in my house - in someone else's house this same colour might look way too orange. It has been a steep learning curve for me to choose the right yellow. For example, yellows that people on here said showed no green in any light in their house (some of which are mentioned in this thread), showed lots of green tendency in my house (BM Windham Cream, BM Vellum etc. - they showed not a hint of pink or orange on my walls but were greenish yellows). Every room is different and you have to learn how your room plays up colour. This is a photo (not my house!!) of a room with orange undertones in the wood that I think looks fabulous with yellow paint with the apricot tendency to it (vs. green). This is the look that I prefer with warm orangey woods, but it is personal taste of course. And this is how my new paint and floors will look once the work is completed. Gotta voice in on this. I painted a BR 4 years ago in BM AP. Thinking I was getting a dusty peach, I got "Rocky Top, youÂll always be home sweet home to me; Good olÂ Rocky Top;
Rocky Top, Tennessee".... University of Tennessee Orange. I loved it but non one else did while living in the house....but my blood runs orange anyway..

Anele, what a gorgeous rug! Love it! Hmmm...Wonder what else you have in the room. What colors are in your sofa & chairs? I can see what you mean about the roses & other motifs outlined in an almost rusty shade. If you want something w/more brown you might check out BM's Sierra Ridge, (AC-11) though it may be too dark. San Clemente Rose, a rosy brown, (AC-10) would be nice w/your rug, but you may not want a rose undertone w/your other things.

Back to the historic colors, there's also Winthrop Peach, (HC-55) which could really work,& maybe even Georgetown Pink Beige, as it definitely has brown & peach tones (much more than pink). I still don't know that Hathaway is out of the question. It always helps me to purchase a couple of cans of paint, paint some poster board, & hold the boards up around various parts of the room in various types of light. Believe me, those tiny swatches aren't as helpful as having the real thing in your possession! BM also has some pre-made large swatches now that are $3.99. They don't come in all their colors though.

As for SW, those colors are printed up on brochures that I very recently picked up at the store so they are definitely current & available.

If you can share something about the color of your furnishings that might help. There are lots of people here who will be able to pull the whole look together for you. Keep us posted! I want to hear about what you decide! Good luck!

Check out "Alexandria Beige" (HC-77)

or BM "Mink (2112-10)
or Taupe (2110-10)

And check out Ralph Lauren's paint palette too -- may be some colors there that might work!

skeet: ACK! I am so glad you told me that. I definitely do not want orange. I am trying to get away from my bold gold, so orange is NOT the look I want! I will skip even sampling the BM AP!

stinky-gardener: Thank you! That rug was my $60 CL find. It would have been $30, but I offered more so they'd hold it for me! The sofas are slipcovered in white and are normally a maroon I am tired of . . .the other furniture is also white. I am going to sample the colors you suggested. I do hope the Hathaway works with the rug because on my 'puter, it is just lovely! That is odd about the SW colors. Maybe their website hasn't been updated for awhile. I will have to look them up at a local store!
