What would you do? Ebay related.
Comments (22)I wouldn't have agreed to accept 2 instead of the 3 you paid for. In the event a dispute were to be filed, it's her word against yours and since you received a "make-up" package for the one she claims got lost, she can say she sent 3 and you have no way to dispute her statement because likely the package weight would not be different with one item less. We're not talking big bucks here, but it's the principal of the thing. You didn't get what you paid for. Accepting packages with less than you've bought is a good way to get burned badly and lose big $$$$. If this should happen again and you suspect the package contents aren't what they should be, either open the package with your mailman as a witness or carry it to the P.O. to open it in front of a postal employee. The above is especially important for sellers when a difficult buyer is returning an item for a refund. Sometimes the package contains a similar item, but in damaged condition in order to perpetuate a scam. This seller would never win a dispute because she didn't get DC on the package. If you were a shady buyer, out to cheat her, (and they are out there, ready to pounce) seeing your package didn't have a DC on it would give you the opportunity to collect on the seller's mistake. Telling buyers they have to pay for insurance still won't help this seller if she doesn't have DC on her packages. She will have to refund if a dispute is filed....See MoreKarastan rug questions
Comments (7)"Connie, do you mind sharing which eBay dealer you bought your rugs from?" I'll be happy to share. It was Pakobel Rugs, a dealer out of Florida. (http://shop.ebay.com/pakobelrugs/m.html?_nkw=) They describe their rugs very accurately, and their shipping charges are about as good as they can be. Beware, they sell rugs in ALL conditions, so read the descriptions carefully and study the photos. The rug in my bedroom is one of my best buys. It's 9' x 12 or so, the colors are good, the edges on it are perfect, and it cost me a little over $300. It must have been a table sitting on it at one time, because there's a small racetrack worn in the center of it. Not a problem for me, however, because I was buying it to go under a king-size bed ... the worn places are more-than-hidden under the bed. Here are some photos. The first one is taken looking down from my stairs, so you can see the Karastan stair runner, and the semi-antique door rug and hall runner in the same shot. The colors don't match exactly, but they're close enough for me. This is a not-so-good photo of the detail of the hall runner. I like the fact that there's mistakes and worn spots ... it adds character. :) Hope this helps, Connie Here is a link that might be useful: home and garden blog...See Moreusing ebay to buy seeds
Comments (12)Have only had one really nasty experience with E-bay but probably my own fault. I attempted to point out that Japanese iris were most unlikely to be protected by PBR. Really none of the iris breeders in aus do that! Also that no law in aus prevented a person from giving the registered name of an iris. My suspicion was that they were seedlings as the actual photo of the sale item was not being given. The irises were priced rediculously high, and the postage was also way high. She was extremely nasty back to me, and put my comments up on e-bay which of course was the last thing she should have done because it would have lost her sales, if any one was even interested at those prices. As far as the exchange here being better than e-bay - I beg to differ. I have had some fabulous stuff from e-bay (seeds that is). Some nice stuff here, but generally not of much interest to me anyway. I think the best place to go for seeds is specialist groups, such as SIGNA and the alpine plant groups, if you are looking for special little bits and pieces. Common plants are best bought in Aus rather than from O/S sources. There are plenty of catalogues (Diggers, New Gippsland, etc) who will probably have seeds for prices as good as those offered on e-bay. Watch closely for people who advertise a plant (say siberian iris at present on e-bay) and in the small print it tells you that you will get 1 seed, or 10 seeds, or whatever, rather than the plant that is advertised. Also if something is advertised as rare check out that it is not infact a weed. There are a couple of these on e-bay right now at crazy prices....See MoreNeed advice on Karastan rugs. Comments (7)I would have said exactly what dee said, but I've been stripping wallpaper in my my upstairs bathroom. They're all nice, although mine are all the older, thicker ones, but I love the English Manor styles! I see they are making some inexpensive poly ones now, that I haven't seen in person, but they are described as being made of this - "If you want the cleanest, most sustainable carpet for your home, opt for EverStrand.® This premium PET polyester fiber is thoroughly purified for the cleanest strand and easy to keep clean with advanced soil and stain protection. And, with up to 100% recycled content, it's the world's most sustainable carpet."
