I can't answer your questions but I recognized your name as the lady who helped me find the post regarding a certain table and chairs and I realized that I had never thanked you. Thank you. Where in Ohio do you live? I grew up in Amish country and enjoyed going to your link. I left a long time ago but still go back to visit family. Is their furniture priced well? Just curious.

The Capitsrano pedestal is my fav with those chairs. I like the simplicity of design.

What color are the legs on the chairs you bought? Hard to tell for sure, but that would be a factor for my decision. If you are not likely to be able to match the legs to the pedestal, then I would do the pedestal painted black, and a cherry top to compliment the cabinetry.

I'm not much help regarding the table base, but I can attest to the quality of their furniture - good stuff!

I think the style of chair (are they rattan/wicker?) rather suits your metal/glass table and would look more interesting because of the contrasting textures. That said, is the current table large enough for the chairs? - hard to tell from a photo.

Two tone finishes always look "country" to me, and while I'm not one to fear mixing woods, I'll admit that red woods are very hard to work with; they don't seem to like competition.
Are you patient enough to wait and see how the chairs look in place before you decide?

Vicki: We're in Newark, but also own a log cabin in the area of Warsaw, about 20 or so from Amish country. The furniture is fairly priced.

Les: Thanks so much for your input. I do like the table you posted, but wouldn't have picked it for myself because I always choose rounded shapes and that pedestal is staight. I'm really thinking about it though. The chairs are "java", a very dark brown, almost black. Does that change your mind about making the table base black? The cushions are an off-white.

Homersmom: Do you own something by them? I'd love to see a picture.

Elsa: The table I have really is too small for the area, and my pictures of it really underlined that for me. I'm really having a problem, like you, of not thinking of the stained top/painted base as "country." And, the problem of matching the cabinets made me think of a black table.

I'd love more input from others!

The furniture I have from Homestead was used in our condo - it's living in the basement now so I have no pics. We had an oak armoire made and also purchased a cherry shaker style sideboard. This was back when they were a little operation in a trailer behind a house (about 15 years ago!) That place was packed with furniture!
