As a SM: I'm actually attending a concert tonight. BM can't make it, she's got to work.

As a BM: No I really don't mind DS's SM attending his X'mas concert. She's a part of the family too even if I don't like her as a person. She's good to my son, that's all I ask for.

I've never had a problem with SD's BM. She's usually pretty laid back about this kind of thing. We try to all go if at all possible.

My husband and I attended SD's winter program (concert) this morning. Her Mom couldn't go, and didn't object to my going.

As a Mom, my son's dad & step mom attended all his plays or programs (or other events) that parents are invited to attend. I didn't enjoy being in the same room as his step mom (due to an assault & restraining order) but I didn't object to her being there as long as there were no "scenes" or problems. There never were.

My exH almost never attends any school events. His wife has only attended one event, after which she got mad at one of my kids for not saying hello loudly enough or something, and my exH proceeded to make a big scene, which, thank goodness, I wasn't present for. I don't think she belongs at their events, but I don't feel half as strongly about it as most of my kids do, especially after that fiasco.

SM never attended any of DD's events. I never objected to her attending. DD wouldn't object either, she likes SM. SM was kind of hands off though, she did not participate when it was not needed, not into your face kind of type. But actually she is exSM now as of about a month ago. X left her for TOW. Since DD is in college now, attending events is irrelevant. But DD feels bad for SM. In fact TOW will probably be SM #3. Which SM would attend Christmas concerts? 1?2?3? hhmmm...Just kidding. DD laughs: only my dad can do these kind of things.

It's funny - my attendance as SM is an absolute - heck, I coach/lead most of the activities SD participates in. BM's participation is always questionable though . . . and she's been given every opportunity to coach/lead. If she is there, sometimes we sit together, other times she sits on the other side of the room. I think it depends if she is on her meds. :-)

I go because the kids ask me to go ... I try to avoid going at the same time mom does ... their school holds a morning and afternoon concerts.. middle school is at night so we all go ... if its not on moms night she won't go.

For my son's stuff dad and SM go we sit together we are friendly. Guess it just depends on the other parents personality.

My husband andI go to all of the kids events at school. I have even volunteered for several events at the school as well. BM has one of two attitudes depending on her mood that day ... she either sits there with a crappy look on her face with attitude just oozing out of her... or she puts on the super mom routine.. either way I couldnt care less what she does. We are there for the kids... they want us all there so we are.
