Anniversary Blues

Tomorrow is our 5th wedding anniversary. We are still in a state of constant stress over each others bio child. I love my husband, but being in a blended family has continued to bring us further and further apart through out the years.

I often think about the movie The Butterfly Effect. Where would I be right now if I changed one thing in my life? It makes me sad to say that if I had to do it (marry my husband) all over again, I wouldn't.

I asked my husband about a week ago what he wanted to do for our anniversary. He said that it would be fine with him if we just went out to dinner. He said that if I hadn't gotten him something already then we really didn't need to give each other gifts. I don't know why, but his casual attitude and statements really bothered me.

It seems as though our anniversary is another day just like all the rest. Perhaps I wanted it to be more important; a celebration. But I guess lately there is not a lot to celebrate.

I continue on for the son we have together. He is our common bond these days.

This brings me to the realization that I must recant my prior statement. If I wouldn't have married my husband, then I wouldn't have my son right now...I wouldn't trade him for the world.
