Upholstered Bed/Headboard

I really would like to get either a upholstered bed or headboard. I really think I want it in a cream colored velvet in a pretty simple style. I don't want anything really ornate. I think maybe a simple square or slight curve with nailhead trim.

Any sources for something like this with good quality for slightly less? Not sure how to decide if I want the whole bed or just the headboard. Worried about my mattress/box spring fitting in the bed and the bed looking bulky.

I like looking at www.decorpad.com. They have a section called look4less where they show a higher priced item and either the same or similar item at a lower price. This bed happens to be one of the items. Im not sure about the quality because I've never ordered from this website before.

The queen size at RH is $1850. It looks like the exact same bed at www.ivgstores.com for $590

I just bought one and love it. I hesitate showing pics of my bedroom yet since it's still a work in progress so keep that in mind. Here it is. I got it from HSN. Here is the link. It was 449.00

I dont think there is such a thing. I know some frames are adjustable, but it adjusts for both the mattress and the headboard, not one or the other. You may need to bolt a piece of wood to the frame and then bolt the headboard to the wood at the place that lines up with the antique holes.

You need to sew the pieces together, just like you would with wide draperies. You use the 54" in the middle, and sew a piece on each edge. If you match the pattern, the seams are not very visible. Trim back the selvages, press back a seam allowance and lay it over the center panel matching the patterns. I use Dritz wash away wonder tape to hold the pieces together, but reinforce with pins before I move everything to the sewing machine.

Thanks, all. Lots of good food for thought. And those are some beautiful rooms and beds! My DH actually said he would build me a headboard, and I designed it. He bought the quarter-sawn oak, and some burl for some inset spots . . . and it has all sat in the barn for two+ years. Even after I have TWICE cleaned up and organized the barn for him so he can easily do the work. So, I think I'm looking for an easy stopgap of some kind so I can get rid of the sleigh bed, but not have a bare bed in a room like I'm 22 years old. Because who knows when that headboard will get made, but I don't want to make it look like I've given up on him, KWIM? That and we're having a new mattress delivered Thursday and when I saw that headboard on CL I was giddy at the thought of getting it all done at one time. Oh, and the CL headboard is fairly new -- part of a moving sale. But I understand the issues with buying used upholstery.

Ah, yes...I have a Belgian linen headboard in a lovely warm grey, and a tailored skirt in the same linen with a 5" cream border around the bottom. I have two kitties. I knew this was a fool's errand, but I just Wanted It! So they are doing some damage. If you choose a fabric that is very smooth and tight, like cotton chintz (the fabric, not the flowered pattern) or heavy microfiber or short-napped velvet - something without much texture - you have a better chance that they won't want to scratch it. I put a scratching post very near to the bed, and used Sticky Paws tape along the top edge and corners of the skirt, which helps. Still...there is damage here and there. They seem to like corners and edges most of all. In case you don't know about Sticky Paws, here's a link. Works great...and is not terribly obvious...but it will pick up their hair over time, and has to be replaced when it starts to look dirty. There are also acrylic corners that can be attached to upholstered pieces with corkscrew pins...very effective, and unobtrusive...but I don't remember where I got mine. I also got one on hsn. It was $300 for a Cal King.

The legs are somewhat adjustable, but still far too tall for my bed. I bought a mounting bracket on Amazon for $20 or $30 and hung the frame on the wall. I love that it doesn't creak or anything - I'm amazed that it really doesn't move at all. Also, buying the mounting bracket was cheaper than buying the "super special exclusive" brackets from Select Comfort (we have a Sleep Number bed.)

The headboard is comfortable to lean against. It did have a packaging smell to it - I had to let it air out in my dining room for around a week before I brought it up to my bedroom.

When I was looking, they had the same headboard on the csn stores website for around the same price.

It's lovely. But if you can't, it doesn't matter. ''So anything to do with lifestyle -- clothes, food, louboutin shoes , hats, bags or pens. Things that make you feel good. Everything to do with your vision of what a 'lifestyle' should be. I'm very lucky. The teams who work for me are fantastic. There's the architects and the management people, the chefs, the couture crowd. They create a lifestyle around me just by being so supportive. That's why management is so important. It just doesn't run away. You don't create something and leave Authentic louboutin shoes.

I have had a white upholstered sleigh bed for about 4 years and love it...bought it through Spiegel. They don't offer it anymore, but I am so happy I bought it, at the time it wasn't my usual style of furniture, but it fits in well with my bedroom.

That Ethan Allen Bed is gorgeous!!!

I have the Nate Burkus headboard also from HSN. Love it! CSN stores have a load of upholstered headboards at very affordable prices.

I had a queen size custom made. The quotes were between $350-$500. (I already had the fabric I wanted to use. Nailheads or tufting would have been extra.) I'm in the Atlanta area. I found lots of resources (probably here) that gave instructions on how to make one yourself. The hardest part would be getting the wooden frame cut. I just wasn't brave enough to try it.

Dollfanz - where did you get that bedding? Love your room in progress!

Thank you JNH896. The duvet cover is just a solid white. The bedskirt is Waterford Bryanne Platinum. The sheets are Palais Royale Sateen from BB&B.
