Explaining family to a five year old

OK. The girls are very close to my parents. My parents are the closest thing to Grand Parents they have ever had. My mom kept them yesterday while J and I went on three seperate Dr. Appts and when we finally got back we had 4D sonogram pictures to show everyone. My parents of course boo-hooed and made a huge deal of how much the baby looks like me and my nephew (everyone says my nephew and I were twins born 22 years apart). The girls of course were very excited to see their sissy.

When we loaded up in the car to go home the conversation starts. The girls start asking me if I remember when they were babies, when they were in their mama's tummy, if Gangam and Pirate (their nicknames for my parents) thought they were cute babies, if I was there when they got their "pictures" etc. Of course I explain to them again that I wasn't around when they were babies. This baffles them like it does everytime I say it. I told them I have seen pictures and they were adorable but I wasn't there but it's like they don't hear me. It's right back to "do you remember in the hospital when we were babies?" Do you think they are confused? I know they know that I wasn't there because I know their mother has told them all the stories about when her and daddy were together.

Do you suppose they are trully confused or do you suppose it is just comforting for them to feel like we have all always been family. I'm worried that maybe seeing Gangam and Pirate carry on so about the baby made them feel a little out of the loop. Do you think this is possibly the beginnings of some insecurities or just two little girls talking? I have made it very clear that I wasn't always in the picture but it's almost like they are trying to re-write history with me and my family in it. Is this healthy? Should I be worried?
