Disney mom's

So I've heard the phrase "Disney Dad" applied to the NCP father who just wants the kids to have fun-fun-fun while they're with him, but meanwhile he does no actual parenting in the form of dicipline, structure, rules or guidance. It seems that I may have a case of a "Disney Mom" on my hands.

She's the BM and has for the most part, been an apathetic, relatively absent, and very selfish mother - to this point. Now, she's moving - far away. She's the NCP so she's not taking SS with her. In the final weeks before she's leaving she's all about FUN. She's spoiling him and of course, ruining any semblance of normalcy and stability that my fiance has instilled in his life. Now SS comes home and says that his dad is mean, not fun and he wants to spend time at BM's house. SHE'S LEAVING - WITHOUT HIM - and she's only doing this so she feels better about HERSELF before she goes. It's very frustrating and ultimately making SS's life even harder - because the fun *will* stop (like it always does) and then he'll be abandoned by Disney mom once again.

WHY do they do these things? Can't they see beyond their own noses and figure out the longer range consequences? We only have a little longer to hang on, thankfully, but the next month or so is going to be a doozy.
