the phonograph speaker WIP

well, even if I don't know what to "do with it" I've started. Since the night I saw it at auction, I've pictured crash glash but I was thinking over blue and green. Once I sanded it to metal, my mind opened to other ideas. I toyed with leaving it silver but alas I broke out the paint and glitter after all. The inside will also get glassed but not crash and not at all sure what pattern... floral... abstact???

Last night I realized that while I like this as a flower, I'm not the type to plant such a thing in my gardens. But what if I construct a viney pipe stem around the ballasters on my deck and this thing blooms off the corner (15' up) LOL wonder what the Dh will think????

his deck... I wonder if he'll let me do this???

just think of the possibilities! over time I might find some exotic mosaic "fruit" to add to it!

I have a issue with my downstairs neighbour.they moved in 2018 first time they moved in they were rude to the kids in our street its communal garden all around the flats and they play all around the flats that are in the street they told the kids to f off whenever they are out side they slam their windows and shut the curtains they live underneath us the floors are super thing and very creaky and loud the buildings dont have very good sound proofing crap in the winter for getying damp ect.anyway since they moved in they have created hell for mainly us and threaten to report other neighbours to social services because they let their children play outside.their child never plays outside and only time it goes out is for school.ive been told they wqnt to move but cant swap because no one wants their flat as its groundfloor. so they want to make us and everyone else suffer.they bang when they come back from school runs and never go out apart from work and school runs or if they dont like music from one of the blocka or kids playing outside.they are very rude dont speak to any of neighbours at all except for one who was like them years back who upset others.they try to bully us peer behind their curtains when i take my children to school,sit in their car and watch the kids epsecially mine.now they are wanting to do mediation which we feel is a game because if they wanted to do it they wouldnt be so rude and result to intimate their neighbours.any ideas how to deal with this,they also called thr police on us one night because my firealarm went off due to water trickling into fire alarm as its wired into the ceiling as our roof was collecting water from loft this freaked out me and my family and we all started panicing they told the police we was shouting at our children which is not true.a neighbour also mentioned to us that their children a 4-5 year old and maybe a yr old doesnt have any toys in the apartment as one of her friends went to visit as she was intrested in swapping but they turned hers down so cant be desprate to get out obviously just want to make everyone miserable and cause trouble

It has been ruined as an antique. I couldn't tell, but I think the turntable drive has been removed to make room for the radio chassis. The electronics chassis appears to be a standard RCA type, 5 tube superhet radio. I see a tuning capacitor and an IF can ( Intermediate Frequency tunable transformer). I did not see the usual large flat wound coil that doubles as an antenna, therefore, this may have been a design that requires a long external antenna. There is no speaker unless a horn driver has been installed inside the gramaphone horn. Its a partly done conversion using an obsolete radio chassis. Vacuum tubes for this set are nearly impossible to find and are expensive. This chassis produces a quantity of heat and provision must be made to vent the heated air. Don't clutter up your basement with it. It will eventually make it way to the junk barrel. The best use I can think of is to canabalize it for parts to repair a real gramaphone of the same model.

Probably not at this stage...course, I would also have been sorely tempted (and probably wrong) to use GEII and lay the crash glass over those roses. Now that you've revealed all that lovely, softly shiny metal, I'd just do it in plain crash glass and grout with white or off white to further emphasize the icy quality of the crash glass. Pat

that firebox is a Schrader and I bought it from a friend, about 20 years ago..I had another friend put it in and seal it..it's only a metal sheet in the back and sides, so it keeps the fire more contained but wasn't anything that was either already here or even necessary. I don't use it all that much and if the power goes out, with a proper screen, there's plenty enough heat from it...and then there are the generators...plural! lol he works up in the hills, so generators are a foreman's friend. I do believe he has about 5 of them. not much to worry about in the event of power outage. we could accommodate the neighborhood, I do believe..lol I liked the look of it, in the beginning but I'm to the point now, of just wanting the fireplace to be more decoration than function. I"m not so "little house on the prairie" mentality anymore, since I can't be lifting the firewood, like when I burned all the time, when the kids were in school and would come home to a roaring fire. geez, I even used to bake fresh bread, once in a while for them...hot bread, with butter all drizzled over it..., not so now....I just turn up the heat and curl up on the couch...no afternoon noise, or chaos anymore. and the dog has relocated to the end of the block, at my oldest son's place..lol she gets much more attention over there. it's just me and the chirping birds, during the day. (5 love birds and 1 cockatiel)

Nice deck. If I hear screaming in the wind, I'll know it's your DH LOL. This is going to end up a really cool project. You could have it " growing" and just peeking over the deck.

OK, so DH loves his deck (can't fault him there, it is wonderful)....you aren't mosaicing the deck! All you are doing is adding a lovely accent piece. Your beautiful flower will only serve to draw attention **to** his wonderful deck!

LOVE those colors you've started with! Wouldn't a real plant that color and size be amazing!!

that's just like a Pacific Northwest trumpet vine...and they do grow big around here...lol not exactly that big, but still impressive.

google for littleandlewis's website...they have them growing around their yard on Bainbridge Island...

also, on their sculpture pictures, is one that looks like your speaker...I think it's more or less, the back of a mushroom.

the trumpet vines are a pretty rustic orange color or a nice yellow...I love them..

That is one magnifico deck!!! But it could be tweaked, by decking it out with a flower! It would draw your eye to the deck!!!ha! Ohhhh, what surprises you could weld/mosaic!!!

Well, so, THERE YOU HAVE IT! When you finish that wonderful, loverly, magnificent project, he's gonna be so overwhelmed w/acceptance he won't know which end is UP. I tell you, girlie, you win the prize for ideas, and I know your execution of it w/be over the top of the top. Oh, what another NT project to watch!!! Yippppeeee - and we're off and running. Great start - love the paint technique.

Nice, that will be awesome!!! Just hang it on the deck when your done and see how long it takes him to notice then bat your eyes and say "oh that thing..its been up there for ages don't you remember!!!"" Probably wont work but its worth a shot!!!!!! You know kinda like all that new stuff we bring into the house without letting them know we bought it!!!

OK, that is a totally awsome project!!! I would have bought it up in a heart beat.... Please keep the pictures comming!! It definately looks like a giant morning glory. The possibilities are endless.

I also see it as a giant Morning Glory. Very cool project. I remember when you first got it. I drooled over it then. I can't imagine your DH not wanting this wonderful flower on his deck. It REALLY is a wonderful deck!! WOW So HUGE!! He did a great job.
