New Hampshire Gals- Wet Saw on Craigslist

I realize that people can just GO to craigslist, but this one was under a power-tools listing for a few other items. I have a little one that I like, but if you're looking for one, here you go:

I have Craigslist, too, and a few other categories on an RSS feed on my Yahoo homepage ( hoping for a wetsaw score or glass grinder) LOL

It's not clear what you started with. Did you get a decent size root ball? Also, if what you got was some root with a new culm, that would be a portion of the plant that is least well established and likely to fail as a transplant. It's hard for me to comment on your soil. Bamboo usually do well in even poor soil, and have a high tolerance for water (unless they have their feet in standing water for days). Leaf curl is a symptom of too little water or simply that the plant began dying almost from the start. As for whether there is something in your soil that is a problem, I don't know. In addition to all this, the best time to take a division of bamboo and transplant it is when the plant is semi-dormant...late fall through early spring. Unfortunately, from what you've said, I doubt that this plant will recover.

Yes Puglvr, I understand anyone who shy's away from a Kent mango tree,..I expect mine to top out around 40 + feet when it is fully grown,..maybe 20 yrs from now. But speaking of huge mango trees, the Valencia Pride will be even TALLER than the Kent. A very fast grower, one of the reasons it does so well in places with fairly cold winters ( like here ). Grows so fast it adds a layer of outer bark faster than most trees, helping it survive those few 33 - 36 deg nights, just needs the initial 3 or so winters to be moderate. Don't even want to talk about the very rare 30 deg ones !!! lol But thats why I have my C 9 Christmas tree lights strung thru all the trees till March 1st. An ounce of prevention....

Granted I'm a couple of zones warmer than you but I'm still in New England. I suggest you check out Swallowtail Garden Seeds website for ideas that will meet your requirements. Another suggestion is that you winter sow the seeds in recycled containers. Winter sowing is a USDA sanctioned method of growing from seed. There is a winter sowing forum here on GardenWeb where you can check out the FAQs, get ideas/suggestions, ask questions & generally learn as much as you need to know about growing healthy annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs & vegetables from seed without grow lights in your basement. There's also a GW seed exchange forum where you can trade for seeds rather that buying commercial seeds. Here are a few perennials (I don't bother with annuals) I grew from seed via winter sowing in 2012: Lobelia cardinalis/cardinal flower Gaura lindheimeri/wandflower Catananche caerulea/Cupid's dart Echinacea purpurea/purple coneflower Blanket flower & bee Gaillardia/blanket flower (species)

nosoccermom, Did you ever find the elusive farm table? I got one from CL in New Hampshire a few weeks ago, after on and off searching for years. I don't know what made me go to the NH Craigslist, but am I glad I did. I'm in Maine. This was the picture I saw in the ad - Hand scraped pine, 3' x 6'. I asked for and got better pictures and for $200, it's now in my dining room - I want to refinish the top to get a less pumpkin pine look. It even has a drawer! The drawer pull was an old brass cup pull that I didn't care for. I took that off, and stained one of the chunky English style knobs I have for projects, after beating it up a bit and put that on. Much better! I purposely stained it a bit darker than the table, but there isn't as much contrast IRL than the pic shows. It has beautiful legs, and this is very embarrassing, but it's what my DR looks like now. After my kitchen refresh, everything was piled in there. The table got put there when we got home. Look back up at the 6 chairs around the table in the first pic. She said if I wanted those, they'd be $100 for all. A friend in NH loves pink and she wanted the Parsons chairs, and I guess I'm keeping the rush seat ladderback arm chairs. That works out to $16.67 per chair! The piece de resistance is the last pic below. This wasn't shown in the ad, but when I told her that I liked pine, she sent me this photo. OMG! 5' long x 32" high x 16" deep. It's upside down against the wall in the pic above. It was $75, and I could NOT resist. Now I need to find a place for it. :-)

oh, I know...I just figured it was also something that I probably should just post "briefly" so as not to clutter up the boards with advertisements.

Let me ask this of you craigslist watchers... Over the past month I have tried to respond to several ads but my emails never go through. Why is that? Do I have to be a member to contact advertisers?

You shouldn't have to...the reply link is right at the top, which I'm sure you're using...

I'm at work, so I just copy/paste the email addy into my yahoo email so it doesn't come from my work email, but haven't had any problems with people receiving.

Are they being "bounced" back to you, or are you just not getting responses? If the latter, maybe just put a tagline in your email to ask for a response from your inquiry, even if it's just a "Thanks for your interest" since you tend to have email issues with CL inquiries, and want to make sure they at least GOT your inquiry.

Just a thought.

I think once they've "made a deal" people just don't bother responding. I find that on freecycle a lot.Never had a response to my ads and didn't get a response to one I sent an email to ( on craigslist). Hmmm ...

nope, not an issue with response, the emails gets bounced back to me, like theres an error with their address or something... I don't understand it, it opens my outlook, gets sent but then I get the notice later.

sometimes when they bounce the message will tell you why. Seems like it shouldn't happen all the time. Even if your getting tagged as junk.

Don't know about that. Overwhelmed email , bogus posts ( to good to be true?)Weird email spirits??
