Marvin vs Jeld-wen, wood vs. clad, painting aluminum

We are looking into wood windows to replace one window to match the rest of our windows, more or less.

We are right now between Marvin and Jeld-wen's pozzi custom series.

Jeld-Wen seems to offer Auralast wood, which is more resistant to the elements, while Marvin doesn't mention anything like that. I know Marvin makes good windows in general, but I don't know about their all wood windows.

Any experiences with these?

Also, say we get the clad, which we didn't totally right off, since I don't know that we won't be replacing the rest of the windows in 4-5 years (they seem to be ok, but they are very old energy-inefficient windows; although gorgeous, for sure) at which time they would match. The rest of our sashes are painted. Could we possibly paint the aluminum to match the color? Is that possible? What are the consequences with the warranty?

I heard it is a no-no to paint vinyl, but what about aluminum?

Thanks!

Pinar
