I don't think white furniture would make your deck pop -it would just stand out! Try Target and Kroger for end of year sales.

I agree with nana--think white would be too much of a contrast. You can get the pop with colorful cushions and lots of pots of flowers, pottery, etc.

mine are not white but i got the loveseat, two chairs and two end table which can be put together as a coffee table for 250 at home depot with free shipping. They are holding up well for the price. They had others that were to big for my space that were similarly priced too. here are the seats. Sorry my deck is a mess at the moment...

I would probably stay in the brown and black tones for the frames and let your pop of color be the cushions, rugs, plants and accessories.

If you go with metal frames you can leave them outside and just store the cushions in the winter....... as long as you don't have winds that will blow them away!

Be sure to check out Craigslist. In my area I see nice sets listed due to people moving or remodeling.

Agree that checking Craigslist is a good idea. I have black wrought iron chairs with a curved back that I got @ Costco 4 years ago very cheaply (under $20, I think), and they still carry them. They're heavy enough to leave out and have survived huge winds and salt water from the Puget Sound and still look OK. I find them comfortable even w/out cushions but don't know if they have a dining table. Used to live in MI. There I would stack them up for winter and throw a tarp over.

Also, Home Depot and Lowes have inexpensive sets in the spring. Craigslist is always a good bet.

Home Depot has/had this Martha Stewart Glider marked down to $79 this week.

I then found chairs that were similar in color and material at Rural King and they were marked down to $25, and had been $35. In shopping around a lot, Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards's, Sears, J. C Penney, Sears, Rural King, Target, K-mart, I found most places had their patio furniture marked down and the pickings were getting slim.

I found there were a lot of chairs and settees that just weren't comfortable, so once something catches your eye, and is priced right, be sure it is nice and comfy.

Sorry I posted friday evening and was out of town over the weekend. My problem is I am not liking the dining sets sold because I am looking for something modern and those are only wood. DH doesn't want anything wood. I love the wicker conersation sets with white cushions so that it will bring a pop but it will not be good for MI weather. Maybe I could try buying a red cushion wicker set from Walmart and put some bright pillows along with a bistro set or use a folding table with plastic chairs for this year for a big party. What do you all think this set for my deck. I have pasted the link below.Thanks for all your help.

I love your blue chairs with metal frame. It is beautiful. I will check out homedepot. DH doesn't want us to do wood. Otherwise teak will be a great idea because they have a lot of modern furniture for dining in teak.

Maybe I have to wait for next spring. Because most of the stores are almost out of patio furniture. I could try using a folding table with table cloth for my large party this year.

I do not see my set at homedepot online anymore but this martha stewart set was my first choice but the coffee table was to big for my "stoop" like deck... It is on sale for 279 with free shipping. HTH

I have had great luck at Sears.com. Here in the NE, I can't justify really expensive sets and the cheap ones are frankly, too cheap. Considering it's August, you might be a little late for this seasonal item.Crazy as it sounds, the patio set sales start around Memorial Day weekend.

yeah we are very late to the party. The deck itself got built only a month ago and I was a little lazy and low on funds.

Lowes right now has black wrought Iron table and 4 rocking matching chairs for $200. It is what we bought almost 20 years ago and has held up fantastic. I bought a cheery red umbrella for the table and every 5 years or so I get new cushions for the chairs. The last ones have been the best and they came from Big Lots. We live in the harsh midwest and have NEVER brought this furniture in for the winter. Also, we live in an area now that gets heavy wind. It is nice because you don't have to worry about the wind blowing it around. I touched up with painting about 7 or 8 years ago, and did a light spray two years ago. No maintenance. Would buy again in a heartbeat!

I would recommend wrought iron mesh furniture and this is why... First, if there is a big wind, they won't blow away and if they get knocked around you won't have broken glass or tiles all over your yard. Second, they are priced low. Third, they hold up great. Fourth, they are comfortable. You can get dining sets or seating sets. Cushions are available as wellif you want to add color or coordinate them with something, but they are surprisingly comfortable "as is". Get the oncse that have the ability to bounce (action chairs)--they're more comfortable. I have had mine for three years and they are as good as new. I bought a cover for the winter. They stay out year round. I live in Wisconsin so we get a real winter. Shopko had some mesh wrought iron seating that had cushions a few years ago.

I have a wrought iron set that my parents bought back in the 1960s. It is in great condition. I spray it with rustoleum every four or five years. I think wrought iron is an excellent choice! You still see sets around from the 40s or earlier which speaks to its longevity.
