How do you cut 3D objects in half?

So in my acquisitions yesterday, I also found at the SA thrift a lovely little cloisonne-looking trinket jar. It's black with the multi-colored design all over it. Wide mouth, about the size of a samll baseball. CUTE!!! There's no lid, but the shape is nearly identical to this:

If I knock on it, it doesn't sound like porcelain...could be a cheap ceramic piece. How do I cut this is half so I can incorporate it into my backsplash project? I have a wet-saw, and I have Leponitts and nippers. I realize I only paid 75¢ for it, but it's so cute I don't want to ruin it. I also have a tropical-looking small souvenier coffee mug that I want to do the same thing to.

Thoughts?
