Chosing basic types (casement, 2x-hung, others)

OK, I know that casement and double-hung are the two most common types, and I've seen people talking about the pros and cons of each compared to the other... but what about less common types, or variations on those two?

For example, one "con" with casements is said to be the crank handle. There's no mechanical reason why it couldn't be a long lever instead, opening and closing in a single stroke like a shcool bus door... or why you couldn't just open the screen temporarily to push/pull the swinging pane directly without any cranks or levers. Does such a window exist anywhere?

Or, to escape that same "con", what about swinging open inward instead of outward? Some pictures of "glider" windows seem to indicate that that's what they do, but they're described as essentially the same as double-hung turned sideways, which would mean they slide/glide only, no swinging... but then why do pictures seem to sometimes contradict that verbal description?

And what about double-hung windows with the "tilt" feature for cleaning; what makes that only good for cleaning instead of just another way to open them routinely whenever you want them open? And does only the sliding pane tilt, not the fixed, one, or both? (If they both tilt, then that would eliminate one "con" of double-hung windows, the fact that you can only open half of them instead of the whole window, would it not?)
