Asleep, lol. Ohh, poor plants. I've come to the conclusion Mother Nature is Wicked. :) Spiders are not my friend...lol. Especially thick-bodied-legged types and Recluse. Yikes!!! I have no idea what these creatures are eating. Christmas/Halloween decorations are kept in a basement closet. There's some nasty-looking spiders residing in the boxes/floors. What could they possibly eat? BTW, I haven't decorated because of these creepy-crawlers. lol. So far, I've exterminated two, thick-bodied spiders and a 4" millipede. Death by fly-swatter. Too bad Iguana's dislike spiders... If, in a future life, I'm reincarnated as a spider, I'll stay out of your bed. Heck, if I was a spider, I'd commit suicide.

HI, I've been wondering the same thing for months! I guess we Americans don't yet have a tradition of winter gardening like the Europeans. I've just picked a bunch of spinach from one of my coldframes for dinner tonight and had a look at my savoy cabbage in the field that got planted late last year and the heads are just starting to form. I should get off my butt and get some things started in the other empty coldframe. I miss my carrots that did so well this year and I know I could have had them all winter had I got them planted ala Eliot Coleman style and bedded them in a coldframe for the winter. Maybe next year. My collards and kale got a major picking last week after a run of misreably cold weather made them suffer even under my reemay and plastic row covers. And were they ever good! The broccoli got in late and I was able to get a couple of meals before they succumbed to the 9 degree Morning of Death we had a few weeks ago. And hey, I'm in north Georgia about ten miles from NC and grew up in Charlotte, does that count?! Are you in a warm zone 7 or cold? I'm wondering if I can plant some carrots as well in my coldframes.

I'm trying to follow a strict program for quilting HA,HA,HA!!! don't fall down laughing!!! I posted the prayer quilt I finished & am doing BD blocks. I FINALLY have my Piecemakers squares from the 2008 swap together & got the backing fabric. Soon, very soon ... This quarter I've had lots of essays to grade & am teaching Romeo & Juliet for the first time - and one class are very reluctant readers - so it's quite a challenge. DS also thought he was going to be laid off from his job so he went out & bought a puppy - needless to say, he didn't get laid off (yet). He's a field engineer in the oil industry so he left yesterday for a new rig assignment (usually 18-24 days) and we are taking care of this dog. Our dog Penny is a miniature Australian shepherd & FINALLY out of the puppy stage (she is 1-1/2) and now we have Max, a 10week old Siberian husky. DH is retired but not happy about all the time this puppy is taking - and it has been sick so he's been to the vet 4 times in the last week! Penny is being pretty patient since she has been an "only-dog" and almost like a little mother - until he takes one of her toys! It's not warm enough in Colorado for us to enjoy the 2a.m. trips to the back yard! This is Penny & Max under the table resting. Max - with chew toys. Good to hear from you Geri. Thanks for posting! I had my mom & MIL for most of May & did some traveling with mom. They left & we went camping at Rocky Mtn National Park for 6 days ... now trying to get ready for our neighborhood garage sale on Friday night & Saturday. I swore I would never do this again (and it has been about 5 years) but I just have too much stuff so cleaned the garage and now hauling stuff out to sell. I did do a little fabric shopping with camping friends in Estes Park, CO. I pulled out a UFO (queen size) that I started handquilting 10+ years ago & sandwiched the Disappearing 16patch. Son's GF LOVED her birthday quilt I left here for her while we were camping. (he said she jumped off the sofa & was beaming!) That's the kind of reviews you like to get! She did leave a lovely thank you card. I need to get started on a baby quilt for July & decide on a pattern for a bunch of Oriental fabrics I have been collecting. I'm thinking of a fan type pattern ... just not sure yet. Still lots of UFOs to get going on also. The weather is FINALLY starting to get nice (even though it rained/snowed/sleeted on us while camping!) so the flowerbeds are calling me to pull weeds - that will wait until next week. Back to work now on the garage! Sue
