My step children call me by my name, the grand children call me Grandma.

My SD calls me by my name but sometimes she slips and calls me "Mom". I never acknowledge that I catch the occasional slips, but it makes me feel good that she doesn't even notice!!! :-)

I am a stepchild. I have been my whole life, basically. My parents divorced when I was a year old. I am now 18. I call my stepmother by her name because she hasn't earned anything more.
Pashan,the fact that your stepdaughter slips and calls you "mom" tells me that she truly does have affection for you.
I call my stepfather "dad" and my real father "Daddy." This is so that they will both have the "dad" name but,to me, "dad" is more informal and comfortable. My stepdad has always been more of a father to me so he is "Dad." My bio-father was mainly around me when I was younger and had to visit him on weekends so he is "daddy."

My stepdaughter calls me "Mom" and her children call me "Grammy"....

Quite frankly I had rather be called by my name. My first husband used to call me mommy, I hated it. My present husband doesn't call me anything, if I don't reply when he calls, he will do it again with 'honey'. My dad called all four of us girls, Sis and my husband's friend calls me Sis. The whole world is full of Moms, Dads, Grandmas, Sis, etc., I like being me and I like being called by my name. I will guarantee there is only one like me. LOL

My SD calls me by my first name. The only time she called me "Mom" was once, years ago, when we were clothes shopping and she thought it would earn her some points and I'd spend more $ on her. Alas!

My alternate name is OGO (for "Oh, Great One!"). While the SD has only used this once or twice, I sign these initials when I have to leave her a reminder about doing her chores or some such. It tosses a small amount of humor on top of her resentment about me telling her what to do.

One time one of the 3 step kids called me "mommy", he got beaten up (punched a few times) by the others and was scolded by them as wellas my own daughter for him to never do that again. He was 4 at the time, now he is 12 and is very disrespectful to me as my step children have been over the past years. I feel unloved and unwanted in my home when they are present. My husband is more worried about them liking him and his relationship with them to have any empathy for me.

I have had 2 more children with my husband and the kids all get along very well, it seems I am to outcast. My step childrens mom lives in a nearby town and reminds me often not to have any authority control on her kids and they are punished if I do things that make her jealous. LIke buying nice clothes, gifts, sign up for Karate classes or other events. Its very sad and I feel helpless.

I tried calling myslef the wicked witch and the wicked step mother to also try and break the ice, but we are dealing with alot of disfunction with no sense of humor.

Now when my step kids come, I go stay at the camp until their visit is over. I take my 2 small kids with me,too. My husband is able to spoil them as he pleases without my involvment and interference. I am sure they have more fun,too. Unfortunately, there is no discipline and its all about Disney dad playing catch up on lost time and buying the kids love. He is worried that they maynot want to visit him when they get older if he doesnt try to win them over now.

I think step parenting shouldnt be so split up and so many dualalities...It seems they need to lick each others wounds sort of speak and there is no place for me to be involved except as the slave that cooks and cleans...I never get thank yous and eyes are down and away when I enter a room.

The house we live in still carries the ghost of his Xwife who the step kids keep alive and criticize me for changing the decorations or what ever that their mother had in the house...SECRET>>>THE WOMAN IS ALIVE AND LIVES DOWN THE STREET..she divorced him for a new boyfriend whom she married, my husband bought her out of the house so she doesnt even want to be here. The kids need to hang onto their parents being together in that house.

I have now removed all wall paper and carpet and lightening fixtures and as a fine artist I am redecorating my home as my husband and I agreed. The remarks are hurtful and meant to be. However, last week, my husband did tell me that one of the sons did say he liked the ceiling that Iwas painting with murals. They would never tell me, but at least its the first positive comment in a long time if ever!

Not enjoying step-parenting at all!

OGO, I love to be nice to people when they are mad at me. It makes them look the fool and feel guilty.

Garden, if I had to be alone the rest of my life I would choose that over being in an extended family. I want people to like me and it's impossible with these step children. It's like I can feel daggers when I turn my back on one of them. The odd thing is that they are never openly rude to me, at least they weren't before their Dad was seriously ill last Feb. I am selfish enough to be glad they only come over once a year.
