I'm on the 'do not call' list too, but as has been said, that doesn't stop the charity begging - so I resort to a curt 'sorry, no' and a definitive click (me hanging up). Their repeated calls really just annoy me when I scramble to get the phone 'cuz I'm expecting a legitimate call and ... it's THEM.... again .... grrrrrr..... I finally got caller ID, but am amazed at how many legitimate callers (my bank, for instance) come thru as 'unknown' or 'out of area' or 'toll free number' so I tend to answer anyway, defeating the whole CID purpose. Well, it does still work for avoiding annoying relatives, so I'll give it that much. Dee, for your purpose stockpiling does work (and puts the kids to work too!) - I didn't mean to slam .... was just saying that for the folks who stockpile mail and then wonder why they didn't get the cc bill in time to pay w/out penalty ('cuz the bill was in the pile, dummies!). And, for your amusement (glad I made you laugh, Lorna) another upside to mailing back pp cards/envelopes is that with stuff going out daily, I can see when the 'up flag' on my mailbox is down, so know when my new quota of junk mail has arrived without walking all the way to the mailbox! More mindless entertainment .... :o)

Those huge parking lots paved over with concrete or asphalt and so much driving to get anywhere now because it's all spread out and much of it major ugly imo only, now much abandoned and left urban decay behind because business would be better somewhere else, plus most or all of it can be expensed off of income for business. But I'm not against all corporations because I don't perceive everything as corporate greed or evil, some, yes. But with all due respect, I believe banning personal ownership of cars is too extreme. I don't feel like I hog more than my share of the world's resources with my old, small car which I drive very seldom. I cherish the right to own one car at a time of my own and love the freedom it gives me even though I'm aware of the risks and downside. What I cherish for myself, I could not be complicit in imposing on others (sure feel like it sometimes with crooks, drug runners, speeders, drunk drivers, maniacs on the roads and too many semis and large vehicles now). The interstate system was supposed to be safer we were told, and indeed it seemed to be in the beginning, liked the older roads but felt safer on the uglier, not-very-scenic interstates and freeways. Not any more. The little people would be the first to lose their rights and not only if cars were banned.

RT, The "mixed up words" as you refer to are an attempt by the sender to avoid/confuse spam filters and at times it is used to hide malicious content. One thing I want to be clear on. If you are on a mailing list from a brick and mortar store, i.e. Best Buy, or an on-line service that you use, i.e. Amazon.com, it is normally safe to ask to be rermoved from their mailing lists. My original post is to e-mails that mysteriously appear in your mailbox regardless of where they are from. Ignore them and delete them without opening. In my personal use, I have an ISP address which is used only with TRUSTED family and my investment companies. I have a Hotmail account for forums, and registering computer software and services. I have a second Hotmail account for day-to-day issues like on-line shopping, air travel, and communicating with businesses. I have a Yahoo acount for signing up at sites and registering products. This protocol may be excessive, but it works for me. My "main" accounts, the ISP and the day-to-day, are literally spam free. You give me the impression of being new to computing. May I ask, are you aware of the concept of phishing? DA
