I have experience with vinyl United Windows Pro Series that I purchased through Lowes in 2016 for my townhouse. They were new construction and I was wrapping the house with new siding so there were some issues with the installation. As you said the price was right and with the 15% discount, it came to under $1500. for eight windows. The cost included the double hung with features such as an inside colonial grid and extra tint to keep the in the heat in for winter and out for summer and a lifetime guarantee for replacement parts granted only to the original purchaser. After the first year, the service call fee is not covered in the warranty. Do call the company to address any questions about the install. I used my own contractor and he wasn't sure about the inside edge trim since the inside sill was 6 inches deep and just sheetrock. The company tech said I need to purchase sheetrock reuptake which was a vinyl trim that's installed around the window on the inside at the same time to hide the gaps between the sheetrock and the edge of the window. It looked like a square U shape of thin vinyl and was chalked afterwards. The only problem was it didn't come out as neat as I would have liked. There was some waviness so it didn't look seamless. The J channels and other finishing trim for the outside was ordered with the vinyl siding and not through United Window. Since I didn't have central air there was another issue with installing an air-conditioned. I was told that drilling into the window frame for any reason void the warranty. I needed to purchase vinyl strips that you cut to measure and snapped into place on each side above the still to the top of the window to keep the A/C from vibrating and as a security measure. You also void the warranty if you bend the bottom sill so your A/C needs to rest on an extra piece of wood placed between the sill lines at the correct height. Lastly is the the matter of cleaning them and they break if you don't pull them down properly. After after installation, set up an initial service to adjust the windows so they lock properly and get the pull down demonstration for cleaning. Take a video of it with your phone or you'll end up paying more. The balance rods snap and need replacement when the window is improperly handled. It happened after two years and I don't know whether it's because they're cheap or not but they do look real nice. Another issue is to take inventory of any chips on the sills or holes in the screens which may appear after installation. They'll replace all of this for free and they isn't any question on how it happened. I have said enough.

It is a painted window ledge....but concrete underneath...I have caulked the hairline crack and painted over it then it opened up again...so I filled it in with concrete patch and it turned into a tiny crack again....so now I have tried polyurethane sealant....next step is an awning again but don't know which one is best.

I did an experiment to see how effective humidity trays are. We have a wall between the kitchen/dining area and the sitting room. There are no heat sources on the wall, and it faces north, so there is no direct light to affect temperature at that wall. I set a freshly watered plant on a plate and situated a digital hygrometer in the middle of the foliage mass. After an hour, I checked the RH and noted it. Right after, I placed a humidity tray almost twice pot size (10 x 14 & 5 x 8) under the pot. It was filled with peastone and room temp water. After an hour, I checked the RH and found it was .7% (7/10 of 1%) higher than. I checked it each hour or so from noon to about 4PM, during which time it didn't vary more than .1%. As the plant prepared to enter the dark cycle and stomata closed, slowing transpiration, the RH started to drop until it was more than 2% lower than the initial reading w/o the humidity tray. This might also be attributable to a drop in night temps or an increase in outdoor wind velocity causing the heat to cycle more frequently after dark. Obviously, the controls were very loose, but it can still be deduced that the humidity tray had precious little effect on humidity levels in the air surrounding the canopy. thanks, was leaning that way, considering Key West style by adding shutters and color, or more Bahama style (?). Trying to change the facade up a bit, matching up the windows. Like that deep blue with the white trim. My first thought was white, trim color as accent, think this makes more of an impression. Railing needs to be replaced too. Will try it on photoshop.
