Pocket insert window problem for 1929 window
Comments (4)Neglected to mention that these are double hung 4 over 1 windows to replicate my original existing windows. There's also the unsightly gap between the "new" sill and the existing sill upon which it rests - it happens when the existing sill is not the same angle as the 8ÃÂ ordered (By the way there are only three options available 0ÃÂ, 8ÃÂ & 14ÃÂ) No instructional information has been provided on how to address the sill gap issue in videos or instructions. And of course the sample display window doesn't have that problem..... Will I ever get a good night's sleep again ;-)...See MoreTell me your Fleetwood or Milgard aluminum experiences.
Comments (8)Our condo on Kauai is in Poipu and very close to the ocean. The salt air is really invasive and gets into everything and corrodes all types of materials, fixtures and mechanisms. Rust and materials deterioration run rampant out here in the Pacific. Consequently, we need to replace the original sliding doors (to the lanai) and windows which incorporate louvres (or jalousies as they're called here). The decision has come down to using Fleetwood or Milgard products. With both companies, the lifetime guarantees do NOT apply throughout Hawaii and the products are only covered for failure of materials and/or workmanship up to one year. Therefore, it is extremely important to buy the best, most durable quality we can afford (within reason). If anyone can offer opinions based on personal experience and ownership, we would be very grateful. Aloha!...See MoreAluminum narrow frame windows - Milgard vs. Fleetwood vs. others
Comments (6)We're in OC and went with Milgard anodized aluminum for our remodel. Not quite two years in, we discovered a big crack in the crank base. Waiting to find out if Milgard will step up and replace. One of the reasons we went with Milgard was their lifetime warranty. Sure hope they don't try to wiggle out of it! p.s. otherwise these windows have been fine!...See MoreNorthwest Montana - New construction - Aluminum clad windows
Comments (8)Hi Jan! Wondering which windows you decided to go with. We live in coastal Los Angeles, so different weather, but also looking at aluminum clad windows. I was thinking all aluminum also (our architect recommended Fleetwood), but I don't really want a black or silver window on the inside of my house....so that got me to the wood/aluminum clad... We are also doing a glad corner window with no post in the middle, so there are only a limited number of vendors who make that....one I think is Kolbe. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your Montana home now! Thanks!...See Morelorraineal
