Full Screens on Double Hungs...Like Them?

Hi, my husband and I are trying to finalize details on replacing our double hung windows. We've decided to go with Schuco double hung, triple pane with krypton. My hesitation in getting full screens (which allows for better airflow through opening both the top and bottom sashes) is the hazy view you get from the screen. With a half screen, at least the top part of the window is clear. Do any full-screen owners have any opinions on this? Thanks for your help...

Half-screen somewhat locks you into using only the screened half during bug season. You are stuck. Full screen gives you more options should you decide to open both for whatever reason. We remove our screens completely during non-bug season for added clarity.

We notice that the external full screen over our dbl-hung does fuzz things a bit but not bad enough to disturb our vision or our views into the valley below. All our dbl-hung face sunny side of the house so when it is bright outside, the fuzziness is barely noticeable.

It turns out that the interior screen over our casements is much much worse because it is noticeable in all lighting condition.

Thanks for your thoughts, calbay, and for helping us in our decision. It sounds like full screens are the way to go.

I'm not a pro but the first thing I'd check is to see if dust bunnies are causing over heating... You can buy a can of 'air' at an office supply store and blow all the dust out... Pay particular attention to the processor fan... Power down the computer then unplug it, make sure you ground yourself first then take the cover off the tower ( on mine I pull the front off then slide the left side off )... I use the little straw that comes with the canned air and blow out the heat sync on the processor fan then I blow out the other fans ( make sure the fan blades don't move... I stick a plastic stirrer between the blades )... Then I blow out the rest of the tower, make sure all the cards and cables are firmly seated then put everything back together... What ever you do DON'T even think about shaking the can of air, if you do ice and water will come out. Rita

Installing screens in a double hung window?

We have double hung windows and full screens on the outside. Is that what you're meaning, how to install the screens on the outside while YOU are inside? If so, all I do is slide the bottom window up as far as it will go. Take the screen and put it on an angle and lift it thru the window, the top goes out first, it just barely fits but it does because of the angle. Then put the top of the screen into the little groove at the top and then pull the bottom towards you and put it on the bottom. Ours have little silver things that jam into the side grooves and hold the screens in place. They move in and out. They are great finger holds. Does that help at all?
