Get ready to feel rejuvenated! You will love the change. And in a LR you will notice a spark in people's conversations. It's almost like whispering and murmuring can't be done in a red room. ;^D

We have one red wall. It's a large wall - about twenty feet long. It's in BM Fuschine. (the BM color viewer does not do it justice) We just put up the trim and painted it, so soon I can put up a pic if you like.

Anyway, we only did one wall in the red because the other wall is light yellow and the other wall is deep purple, and the hallway is tequila lime, and the entryway is tulip green and the end of the hall is sky blue. So as you can see, even though we only did one red wall, we're not afraid of color.

One thing about red, and probably about most colors but red is what I most am sensitive too, you have to be careful about which red. I, personally, can't look at tomato-soup red in the orange tones, and lean toward the blue-er raspberry tones.

Anyway, just wanted to say, "Good For You."

Oh, and don't forget to tint the primer about 10%, and then still be prepared for more than two coats. Which brand of paint are you using?

Hi Shezzy in sj.......We had SW mix the raspberry truffle even though it is a BM color. They had the formula right there since it is a favorite. DH had credit there where he overpaid them....paid them twice. LOL! They also gave us a free bucket & he bought a giant stirrer where you mix both gallons of raspberry truffle together before you start so if you run out on a middle of a wall, the colors will still be exact. Good tip I thought. YOur home sounds gorgeous & colorful. I have gold & red silk big checked drapes in the DR & the same fabric on the pillows in the LR on the sofa. So I needed a raspberry toned paint. These rooms are open to the foyer so when you come in the front door you see the fp in the FR first, then then to the right is the LR & to the left is DR with columns separating them from the foyer. Not much wall there. So actually there will be only about 2 full walls to paint. The other wall has 6 ft windows & alot of the wall has the drapes hanging over them. So we get alot of light & it won't be dark. Thank goodness....will keep you posted & promise to post a pic when done. Thanks for your tips also! Bonnie

Red is a great color, isn't it? Our library is painted BM's My Valentine and both my husband and I love it. We're also toying with the idea of painting all the spindles on three floors of staircase either Smoldering Red or Million Dollar Red, to offset the white hallway walls and bring some pop to the hallways. Am looking forward to your pics when done!

(my excuse for not posting library pics: the built-in bookcase is under construction and the room is a dust-covered work site and tool storage area right now).

Thank you Red zeebee for your sweet notes! I would love to see yours Zeebee when you finish. Red, I know you have an awesome red kitchen & didn't you paint your foyer red too? YOu have such great taste! Here is a link to the virtual I did of the red color but I just pulled the color out of the pillow on the sofa with the eye dropper tool so it isn't exact. We will probably start late tomorrow with the primer & let it dry overnight , then Saturday start with all the coats of paint - LOL! Maybe 3 will be sufficient.....hopefully! Bonnie I love the raspberry truffle you've picked out! I cant wait to see the finished product. Are you going to paint all the trim red too, like the inspiration photo? I love that look....it screams classy! I would love to have a library in that color...trim and all. I had a bedroom in our former house painted a SW red that was so popular in the 90s. My biggest mistake was leaving the trim and ceiling white because the stark contrast made the room look too primary. If I ever paint another red room, I'll do the trim too, or at least a medium beige or taupe.

Oh...and thanks for the paint can tip! Wish I had known that when we painted our game room a dark blue and had two different blues going on in there!

My kitchen in my old house was Raspberry Truffle and I loved it.

Thank you megsy, Angeldog, & eager to paint for your sweet notes! We didn't get to paint this past weekend as DH was sick with some summer flu bug. He wants to feel good painting since it is the LR & not make alot of touch up kind of spots on the crown molding. Angeldog, we are leaving the trim white probably since the columns & all the trim in the foyer & all thru the house has the white. The couch is natural which is a creamy white color also & their is a chair & ottoman out of the same fabric in there too that isn't showing in that particular photo. I do want to keep alot of light going on with the strong color so it doesn't appear cavelike if you know what I mean. I am aiming for a classy light color red room if that makes any sense - LOL! One of my friends has the most beautiful red DR's & I just hope it looks half as great as hers does. Keep your fingers crossed. Thanks in advance everyone........will keep you posted. Bonnie
