Having a gap between a structural header and a window casing (or door) is actually a desirable thing, It means any sag in the header will not immediately affect the window, The trim on the inside should easily cover the gap. You did install flashing on the outside, right? The siding will cover that.

Yes, I believe the Sunrise patio door is a fine door and the fault is with the installation company. The communication of my choices of options (custom door, standard door, and trimming out the inside) where never explained to me. I thought I had a good grasp on what to ask for (sill pan, flashing) to make sure I received a good install, but obviously there is a lot more options that I was unaware of and that were not explained to me. They also installed the door in the jamb of the old door so they did not have to re-frame the opening. Not sure if this is standard practice or not? I called the owner of the company and explained that the door is leaking again after the second install. the owners first that was to point the finger at my house and the leak coming from somewhere else, because according to his installers there was nothing wrong with the first install, so how can there be something wrong with the second install. This was right before I was about to tell him the water leaking in is coming from where the sliding door meets the frame and running across the top of the inside track. Which rules out my house being the problem. I called Sunrise and they stated the door is not sealing properly and 99% of the time it is because the door is not level or square. At this point it is apparent that the company's quality and professionalism are not up to my expectations. Unfortunately, for good reason, most installers do not want any responsibility of re-installing a door not purchased from them. If I have to purchase another door from a reputable dealer and have it installed, it will be worth it! If there is a company on this forum that works in Colorado that takes pride in their work, I would be interested in contacting you. I appreciate all the responses from the experts on this forum. There are better doors out there but the Pella and Simonton are decent doors. There are definitely some examples of company related issues with one of those companies. Are you looking at triple pane? Have you compared air infiltration numbers?

What is the price of the Climaguard? Were I in the marlet for windows and doors I would not go to a company that makes a bunch of completely differnt products all advertised on the same site. Maybe just me but, no. As far as Pella or Thermastar nby Pella, nothing Pella in my opinion.
