Good things...

I just wanted to post about a positive change in our story...started about Easter time when we invited my hubby's daughters to lunch on Easter Sunday. Two and the three came..we had a wonderful time. All the kids, 3 daughters and 2 sons, came to the dinner we had for my hubby for his birthday in late April. The oldest daughter even brought her boyfriend. Since then things seem to have gotten better but at times the daughters are hateful towards me but overall things have improved quite a bit from last October. The girls ages are 20, 17, and 16 and the boys are 19 and 15. I have been married to hubby for 9 years, together for 11. We have had are many ups and downs and we only have 2 more years to deal with his ex-wife and 3 more years to deal with the mother of his youngest. I can't believe that I had over 15 years to go when I first met him and now we are down to 4. I know we will still have things that we will need to communicate about such as weddings and juggling visitation schedules when grandchildren start but we hope to do most of the communicating with the kids directly. Over the years, hubby and I have had outrageous fights and we came close to divorce on numerous occassions but over the years, our marriage has gotten stronger.

Just wanted to let you know that there is light at the end of the tunnel or at least I am finally able to see it.

I will let you know how things go in two years when we no longer have to deal with hubby's ex-wife, right now she lives in our rental house and her lease expires when her youngest graduates high school. Should be an interesting time because we will not be renewing her lease.

All step-moms out there, keep smiling!! Children do grow up and move away and some even figure out that our jobs were not easy because they become a step parent.
