Hi Deborah, Got it! If just for aesthetic purposes you could really plant anything. But here are some options that are considered to be nice companions. Some of these might not be perennial in your area...FYI. To Deter Pests: 1) A combo of Oregano, Basil, Rosemary and Allysium 2) Geraniums 3) Roses were traditionally grown alongside grapevines in hopes of being attractive to pests. So a Rose ground cover would be possible. BUT, if you have the dreaded Japanese Beatle...nix thisidea:) 4) Flowering chives paired with Sweet Woodruff For Healthy Soil: 1) Hysopp 2) Mustard For Beauty: 1) Forget Me Not ground cover with Grape Hyacinth 2) Catmint and Creeping Jenny 3) Blue Star Creeper 4) Anything paired with Sweet Woodruff Hope this helps...feel free to ask more questions!

You should try muscadine. Native, better flavor than grapes but they have seeds. You will have to do multiple sprays on your grapes. Muscadine have very little problems compared to grapes. Concord does well in the south but it has seeds
