We Had A Tough Time

Hi!

Not being a member of any church, made it hard to find a minister to perform our ceremony. One local Pastor wouldn't marry us, being previously married and living together prior to marriage. Another Pastor refused to marry us because we were not members of his church. It was difficult to find a minister locally. But we did find an on line wedding officiant service to marry us. The officiant came right to our house and performed a beautiful ceremony in the presence of family and friends. My gut hunch told me that this post was from a vendor. I went to the site to the "contact us" portion and lo and behold the contacts were Jeff and Cindy Deblase.
Please.....this is very insulting to everyone's intelligence when you try to convince us you are here passing along helpful information from your own wedding, when in fact, you are a vendor lying thru your teeth to get some free advertising.
Do you honestly think we would take the time to recommend you now to people we know who are getting married when you feel it is necessary to lie about your business? I don't think so. If you are dishonest at this level, you may very well be dishonest in other business dealings. This was a bad judgement call on your part, Jeff.

The latest Had a nice day yesterday. Today I got the financial quiz. I had taken over Mother's checkbook and all finances several years ago because she would obsess over ever penny. She wants to leave the nursing home, but I have been advised that it would cost $12,000-$15,000 a month to provide a level of service that she gets at the nursing home, and with her insurance, she gets 100 days, no charge to her. So I can keep her apartment. I have always told her that she has "plenty" of money, and when pressed, I'll break it all out. But she is obsessive, and I have refused to go over the details every darned day. And she's been increasingly low every day, and I don't like to discuss this all the time. So why can't she return to her apartment if she has "plenty" of money? Well, I cannot predict how long she'll need care at $15,000 a month, and she does not have money for a lot of that, like years. So where she is right now helps conserve her savings. Who knows how long she will live? WHat happens when her money runs out? So she wants me to talk to a financial advisor and get advised about it all. I tell her that I have talked to a number of people. She keeps pecking away at me (no wonder we had such a rocky relationship all my life!) peck peck peck. SO I say, do you want to call Bob or John, my brothers, and ask them? They understand all this. She says, "did they advise you?" Seeing an out (I told them what I was doing, and they said fine!), I said, "Yes, they advised me to do this." "OK," she says, "then it's all fine. You can give up my apartment if you want." I feel like I've been beaten up. OK, what's worse, losing your mental facilities or your physical ones first? That's the question for the ages, I guess.

You may have to go to the State office that licenses the contractors to see if there are any law suits against him along with complaints. Another thing to check on, it make sure, and get it in writing along with paid recipts from the sub contractors on the job. Do it NOW!! or you might find yourself paying for the materials twice. We did that with our building. DH was acting GC, but NOTHING came on the property without paid recipts from the business the materical were bought from. Don't go any further until you get some good legal advice. Meet the contractor with the bank manager with your paper work and get everything straightened out NOW.

You need to find a new vet. Struvite stones in dogs are caused by UTI. There is absolutely no reason to make a diet change for struvite stones in dogs. Either your vet doesn't know that, or is trying to sell you an Rx diet your dog doesn't need. Your dog needs to have the correct antibiotics in order to kill the infection that caused the stone formation. There should have been a urine culture and sensitivity done at time of admittance, and your dog should be on the appropriate antibiotic. You should also have a recheck urine culture scheduled for 5-7 days after completion of the antibiotics. As long as *all* of the stones were removed, and that was confirmed by x-ray after surgery, then all you need to do is complete the antibiotics and make sure the infection is cleared by rechecking the urine C&S. I also generally recheck a urine culture after a couple of months, because some dogs are prone to infection which makes them a risk for stone formation. My own lab Max had struvite stones due to recurrent UTI. The second bout was 100% my fault because I did not follow up on urine culture often enough, and he developed another infection which caused the stones. The first time he had struvites, he blocked and needed surgery, was put on appropriate antibiotics guided by the urine C&S results. But I didn't follow up on the recheck C&S, and the infection wasn't really cleared. He got stones again, but this time didn't block, so I was able to use Hills S/D to dissolve the stones while he was on appropriate antiobitcs to cure the infection. That time, I made sure I had repeat C&S to show the infection was cured and the stones never came back. Once the stones were gone, I switched him back to his regular food (Natural Balance). He never got stones again. Sorry to be so blunt in the beginning but if all the vet does is Rx a diet then your dog will still be at risk for struvite stone formation.

I saw the leathered granite for the first time in person last week. I really liked it. My husband, not so much. He likes the look of polished granite. I am still trying to convince him it can be very classy. We are looking for granite tomorrow. We are looking in the same color tones as you but will probably opt for something with more dramatic veining. I like the look of the small to medium veins and swirls better than the chunks, spots or the large wide veins. It's a tough choice and no matter how many pictures you look at, you just gotta see the real thing to know what you really like. Good luck with your decision.

I think it is because posters no longer have to be paying members. I know over on the KT people are writing letters to iVillage requesting to go back to mandatory memberships for contributors. In the past 2 weeks there has been an influx of trolls posting.

wedding forum wasn't restricted to paid members only. But, I also believe that the opening of the other forums has drawn attention to vendors.

It seems like there should be moderators who keep an eye on posts for legitimacy and who can delete offending messages. I'm a moderator on another site and when I log in, I see a star beside each new post, so I can quickly check them. It only takes a minute or two to do so.

There is a way to notify a moderator, I think it was from the members page. I sent a notice for two post from a vendor on this site and on the entertainment site (same vendor) the entertainment site removed the ads immediately, this site a day or so later. However, I've sort of enjoyed reading the comments we all have posted on this! Do you think the OP has checked back to see what we have been saying?

I read this post becasue we too are looking for someone to perform the service. It is VERY sad when trolls step in but unfortunately trolls will go into all forums paid and non paid. I think the forums should remain open to all as many of us are on very limited budgets but still would like to chat, learn and give ideas. While this wedding is an important part of our lives and will take up the next 9 months, I will be a frequent flyer here, but after that I will probably check in occassionally as I am not a wedding planner etc. Just a mom hoping to make my daughter's day special. It is the same with the garden aspect of ivillage. We have long winters here and so there is no reason to be on there all the time. People get annoyed when folks post unrelated topics and I respect that. The only forum I am on all year round is a pond forum that has a chit chat section where we can talk about anything. Just my two cents.
On the topic though....does anyone know the laws in Canada regarding a garden service?

I don't know much about Canada. But, over on the cooking forum, there is a chat area and several regular posters who are from Canada. They might know a bit more about what you are looking for!

Good luck with your wedding planning. I first started posting here years ago when my nephew was getting married. Hung out over the years because of other events and now we just had our first "sit down" meeting of our DD and her new fiance. But, they are "years" from finial plans.
