I'm pleasantly surprised to suddenly find myself with less than 5 million things that MUST be done today! It feels like a holiday! They only got engaged in January, so there was alot to do in a little time. You've got all the bases covered & even got lucky that the "difficult" family members are busy elsewhere. In spades!! 100%...I am disgusted by gum chewing bridesmaids, noisy guests...hooting and hollering as a certain attendant comes down the aisle, Elvis singing Love Me Tender during the ring exchange....and more besides! The precautions you need to take is to do all you can to make everything about the wedding, from invitations to ceremony to dht dress of the attendants and family as "correct" and as formal as you can.....and maybe it will turn out 1/2 way between stuffy and raucous! I am remembering one bride with a backless gown with some strange thing stuck on her back. I learned later it was to cover a tattoo. So...if you don't want your tattoo to show, why get one? And furthermore, why choose a backless gown? I'll rant with you!! Linda C

A2gemini - There was a very long line waiting for Whoopi to be the speaker, I was very impressed with the beautiful performance and the choir. Dcarch - That must been a surprise for you to meet her! When I lived there sometimes I saw a famous person walking or in the restaurants, sometimes I recognized them and sometimes I didn't. One time I was in the restaurant can't remember the exact name it was something Ducks Decanter and saw a face and couldn't figured it out till I saw the news that night and it was one of the news people.:) Corvina is one of the fish that I grew up with, father liked it and I did too, after that living here I never saw it again till one time that I was in the West Coast and had the same fish, it is my favorite but I am very bad at descriptions, I find it mild flavored not oily, very flaky and light, something a little bit like trout another favorite. This is the first time that I had it in Florida, so when I heard that it was the day's special I knew that I had to order. It came with a gouda polenta that was too rich for my taste, I only ate a little bit, it was tasty but too filling. The surprise was in the Champagne meringue tart, the crust was only in the outside, inside the meringue I was happy to find just fruits. One of the things that I liked about the salad was the goat cheese that had a coating a little bit crunchy and sweet almost like a deep fried, I wish that I can make that. Silvia

Passing by and I wanted to make a comment... I had a complicated wedding process with many many people, ten years ago. If I had it to do over again, I would have simplified it greatly. I would have turned over more tasks to people who were dying to help. And I would have streamlined it as much as possible so that I could have had more fun. As to the ceremony...include the items that make your heart sing. Don't add anything that doesn't have personal meaning to you. Have it exactly how it's supposed to be,if ykwim. And that will be absolutely enough for your guests. Btw, at mine, I had some great music. I had no candle. I had no singing. But I had a minister that gave a beautiful sermon, and a place just before our vows where she asked our family and friends to stand and take a vow to support us to be successful in our marriage. Then we took our own vows and it was over. I had more than one person approach me and tell me that it was the most beautiful wedding that they had been to in many years. The point of it all is that although a big fancy wedding can be beautiful, it's the words that touch our hearts. Set this up so that you can really be a part of it. That your family and friends will be touched by the love that you and your soon to be husband have for each other. That they're given a lovely window into the deep relationship that you have which is why you're getting married in the first place. Allow others to help,even if the help isn't perfect, because everyone wants to be a part of the dream... And keep it straightforward enough to minimize complications so that you can fully take in and enjoy the meaning of this wonderful day. Blessings...
