Also.....if i may add to this...... the flowers that you thought about growing... sunflowers....would be very pretty in a bouquet if they will still be blooming by then...some varieties may give out looking good by then....i never know with mine.. calendula....mine dont do well in arrangements....kind of weedy looking. amaranthus.....have never grown the loves lie bleeding...but have grown celosia for a long time..and they would look good in arrangements. zinnias....they do well in arrangements....and grow good most of the summer....by sept. mine can be fine or....give in to the heat and humidity with problems. dahlias .....oh they are gorgeous in arrangements.....and some bloom mid summer to the first frost.... a draw back is that the tubers or cuttings can get expensive depending on the type,etc. i usually buy mine online....but have got some good ones at the big box stores i plant them after frost is passed ....first week in may usually here. well...ive rattled on.......lol...... have fun and best wishes..... carol

Roses and more roses.....and still more roses...plant them as soon as you can this year and hope they will produce something by next year. Then contact your local garden center and tell them you will be wanting lots and lots of started annuals to plant in your garden as soon as all danger of frost is past...after may 15 in your area. Then buy things like rocket snaps, bachelor buttons, petunias in the colors you like, Zinnia are iffy because they get a powdery mildew that often makes them ugly. I have a friend who bought all the white geraneums in the spring for her daughter's late June wedding. She had pots all around and on tables and gave them as favors...got lots of use out of the plants. Linda C

For a large quantity of blooms to cut, you will probably be better off with annuals than with perennials, especially if you're growing them from seed. I grow mostly perennials and woody plants, but do have a few thoughts for you. Zinnias will grow and bloom quickly, but I find the water turns very smelly after just one day; so if you're going to arrange them the day before the wedding, that's a consideration. Cosmos also grow quickly, make good cut flowers, and should give you masses of blooms in colors ranging from white through pinks to deep red. Snapdragon is another quick grower, blooming in late spring to early summer. I hope someone will chime in with more suggestions for you. If not, perhaps try the Cottage Garden forum - there are lots of very friendly and experienced gardeners there from all over the country ... there's bound to be someone who grows annuals in your climate. Don't forget fillers (like baby's breath, gypsophila) and greens - you can choose from solid or variegated leaves, smooth or rough textures, large & bold leaves or long and narrow, even trailers like ivy, whichever best suits your arrangements and your fancy.
