Hi, I am wondering about your religion's confirmation. My daughter just made hers a couple of years ago. In our religion (RC), each child has one sponsor, usually a godparent or close relative. The sponsor gives the child making his/her confirmation a gift, usually a cross. My brother's wife sponsored my daughter, and DB and SIL gave my daughter a beautiful cross. We found a beautiful thank you sponsor card at the Hallmark. We again celebrated with a dinner at a Japanese Steak House (DD's pick) with immediately family again. I guess depending on your religion, things are done differently. When DH and I became godparents to my nephew, we gave him his christening gown, made the arrangements for the christening party catering, a bond and a young weeping cherry tree as the gift. The tree has now been moved from one house to a new one and thank goodness survived. Every spring it blooms and reminds my godson of our love blooming each year for him as he gets older. We didn't receive gifts as godparents either. Again RC baptism. Also, do you have a big party for confirmation? Most of the parties in my religion are given after First Communion. I didn't do that, but a lot do. We had a nice luncheon at a local historical spot that has a small restaurant. It was immediate family. We aren't the big party type for religious occasions, but I think it is great that you are celebrating your son's confirmation. It is very interesting to learn how different religions celebrate the different occasions! God Bless!

There are a couple of ways to handle your situation. You can place the candles by the guest book at the reception, if you take it there, or on a table near the entry door so that everyone can take one when they arrive. Another option is to place the candles in a basket and ask a couple of children to distribute them during the reception after the meal. Kids love to do this and guests are always willing to take something from a child. You will have enough to do without you handing out the favors.

I use these (professionally) and have never had a problem removing a water blush in just a few minutes. You can also usually find them at Ace Hardware, Lowe's and Bed, Bath & Beyond in their cleaning / furniture care product aisle. In my experience, rarely would you need to strip and refinish unless the finish is blistered and peeling off (I can't tell from the photo) Likewise, you may need to buff out the whole top to even the sheen. The cloth will also remove light scuffing. Clean up the residual oil with an emulsion furniture polish Here is a link that might be useful: water ring removal cloth

I may be breaking some unspoken gyno-American law by saying this, but... Yea for man chair. And man room, if the space is available. And dedicated man bathroom. We (mostly unintentionally) demasculinize our men in every way possible. They need some way to recharge their testosterone or they will become the transgendered version of "purse girl" (the ugly friend who slops around after you and usually stays behind to watch your purse while you go have fun). To me, a man chair is much like a docking station. In more ways than I can count, actually. A woman saying, "Is there a woman chair?" is very much like a child asking why there's a Mother's Day, and a Father's Day, but no Child's Day. I despise nesting tables. There are few things I want less than to pay for 3 tables so that I can only use 2/3 of each. 6/3 = 2, not 3. Me - Husband, do you like the green towels or brown? Husband - Does one dry me better than another? Me - No. Husband - Then get the one you want. I'm going to pick wrong anyway. Me - But which do you think would look better with the Vasseliva print and hammered copper vessel? Husband - The what? Me - The "crap on the wall" and the "crap on the counter." Husband - Oh... haha, yeah you have a lot of crap. And thus goes the cycle of futility. I can't comprehend how he can have zero interest in coordinating hues or complimentary scale anymore than he can understand my utter lack of interest in home theater gadgets or the latest motherboard. Within 10 years, everything in the house will be hers. Give the guy a chair, for chrissakes...
