When to have quintet to play?

We have hired a quintet (2 violins, piano, harp and that big violin looking thing...I'm blanking on the name of it right now). Anyhow, the quintet is to play during the ceremony and for 2 hours at the reception. My question is should they play during the cocktail hour (actually 2hr) or during dinner? Cocktails are from 3-5 and dinner is at 5. I originally thought during the dinner. It is a fully served sit down semi-formal dinner. Would that be intrusive or would people like it? If we have them during the cocktail hour I fear that most people would be in the entrance to the hall where the bar is going to be and not actually in the dining room where the quintet would have to be. What have you guys seen done or plan to do?

You are surely paying the quintet by the hour. Are they willing to sit out the two hours of the cocktail hour (which seems very long - most cocktail hours are 45 minutes to an hour max), or will you be charged for that time? Most groups play at more than one event per day, so if you take up their time for two hours while they do nothing, they may expect to be paid and that could increase your cost dramatically. It would be a good idea to check your contract and find out for sure.

I'd have them during the cocktail hour. (If you're really going to have cocktails for two hours, be sure to have lots of chairs - that's a really long time, and people get tired.) My preference is for quiet (other than the din of people talking) during dinner.

Besides, I agree with Sweet Pea - if I were playing your wedding, I'd expect you to pay for all the time you used, including any breaks.

Good luck - it's tough to figure all this out.

Yes, vala, to some degree, and as I don't need them larger, I was a little put out about that too. laat2, I knew I should be getting an arrow, just forgot about that, thought if the lock toolbars thingy was checked, nuthin could happen, not so, gonna write this one down again too, I seldom have these little quirks, but when I do, and mind goes blank, sure is senior moments. Chemocurl, rebooting didn't do the trick, if this hadn't worked, was gonna try the system restore, that seems to be good for a multitude of things. Thanks all, you have made me a happy camper again, isn't it disheartening when something changes in front of you and you are used to it looking the same way, and when it doesn't very upsetting? Or am I the only one. Thanks again, off to the notebook to write the clue in so next time...

I rarely replay the same game unless I made a stupid mistake. I only consider it winning if I get all 8 trains completed. I do that about 80-90% of the time. I don't get many yard jams; I'm almost always able to finish at least one or two of the trains. I finally broke down and paid so I can play the Train game whenever I want. Now that's dedication! Is there a 12-step program for the Train Game? I'm hopelessly addicted.

I uninstalled the kb3087916 which reverted back to an older Flash 18.0.0.0 or something like that. She will still get auto updates due to her not knowing what to do if I have her choose updates. BTW: I checked her Flash version before the uninstall and it had the lasted version with the work "DEBUG VERSION" next to it. Told my mom to inform me if the error appears and when Windows does an update again. If the issue reappears after another install of kb3087916 but not before, it IS that install. Whether Windows is aware of the error, I don't know, so I wonder when they learn of it, how soon a fix will come. BTW, I tried unclicking Script Debugging in IE advanced options suggested by Anne. After do so, a message came up in Mom's game site about debugging (didn't write it down), obviously due to my unclick. Didn't want mom to have to do any more steps being computer illiterate, so I went back and clicked it, leaving it that way. Hope that makes sense. I am concerned that she does not have updated Flash since I "hear" this is one way scammers and such find their way to screw with computers. She accesses her bank info on this computer. Thoughts?
