Just ONE Month To Go!

The coutdown is on!

Already I can't sleep at night, and I have been dreaming about the wedding. Not nightmares thank God! Just dreams about the ceremony.

To everyone else getting married soon, are the nerves kicking in yet?

I am not nervous in the least, I am just anxious about how we are going to pay for the reception! I celebrate whenever a NO response comes in! LOL

*sigh* I feel better :O

I can't beleive we're down to 1 month... I still have so much to do. My mom keeps reassuring me that we will get everything done, and I know she's right, we always do, but this is SO MUCH BIGGER than any party I've ever thrown before.

Anyway, best wishes to all of you June 12th'ers as well as to everyone else who is getting close!

Remember to relax! (I will definitely be using that jacuzzi bath mat thing and the paraffin foot spa that I got for shower presents!)

I totally agree with both of you!! OHHH MY GOSH!!!! Penny, you aren't the only one celebrating the "NO" RSVPs!!! LOL!! I think nerves have set in....I'm excited but nervous!! I'm just excited to be getting married to my best friend but nervous that everything goes smooth. More planning this weekend.....

Deborah, there's a lot of weird comments in this thread !! Like roses not doing well in the Bay area for some reason or another. 'Peace' and any of the Austin roses (and most other hybrid teas for that matter) do perfectly well up here in the Puget Sound area and we are not any warmer than the Bay area......likely even a bit cooler overall. And probably receive a lot more annual rainfall as well. It is also not impossible to find a true rugosa - they are all over at area nurseries here. I live a block up from the beach and there are wild rugosas growing along the shoreline....and without a hint of mildew in our often foggy and damp and very cool maritime climate

Lovely pictures once again. You have so many hostas---I am envious! The size of the pictures is perfect for viewing. Great picture quality. Nice to see mature specimens---a view of what some of mine may look like one day. So thanks again for posting. I should be getting ready for Christmas, but I must have the hosta bug bad. That creature is called Maggie Moo Moo Magoo. Ha. We lovingly refer to her as MooMoo, because she is my little fatty of the pack. Larry, the "fertilizer" is stolen dog food from my other dog's bowls when they arent looking! She's a healthy 70lbs from overeating (no matter how hard I try to force a diet on her!) She's a retired breeder that was given to me for free when the kennel that used her for so many years decided to euthanize her once she was too old to continue breeding. I hate it, but its a very common practice. All of my bulldogs are rescues. Here's a pict of the entire pack. Clockwise from top left Tulla, Sonny, Oxley, Indiana, & MooMoo. It may seem like too many but they are more like living throw pillows.. they dont do much except lay around. lol

Overall it was pretty quick. We bought the land in May of '04. Engaged with an architect in June and had plans in late October. Built the driveway from July - October. Foundation was poured in late November and framing started in January. We moved in @ the end of July. We have found that building here is not much cheaper than California where we came from. The big difference is the cost of land. Materials are just as expensive. Labor is a might be a bit cheaper overall but not significantly since Vermont doesn't have a big undocumented workforce that exists in California. In the end you get what you pay for. We could have skimped and spent less than what we are getting but ours is completely custom with top quality materials and building practices so it will last and be comfy in the Vermont winters. We also have spent A LOT on the site work given we are off the road and up on a rocky ledge. For building of the house (not including the road, site work and landscaping) we spent about $600K + built-ins and allowances. We have a lot of extra built-ins and details like porches, lofts, basement, radiant heat, generator, etc. that are great but added to the overall cost. BTW - this doesn't include the barn/garage space. Hope that helps. M

I'm sitting here reading this and can remember going through this one year ago. I married June 14, 2003. Wow this year has FLOWN BY! My advice to you brides: take a BIG deep breath, STAY ORGANIZED, and keep as calm as you can. Enjoy every single minute because it'll all be over with before you know it. Have fun!

My best wishes to all of you ladies!!!! I can sympathize immensely! Hang in there... it will be fantastic! I got married last week and all I can say is....the planning helps a LOT but in the end it was that 'I pronounce you man and wife' part that made my day!!!

From what friends have told me, also try not to get distraught about a few things that did not go exactly as planned. Most of the time the guests are not even aware of these things, so there is no need to worry. So enjoy your day!
