A fan sounds like a great idea. My thoughts on the solid surface shower: we put one in our new basement bath, Sterling Accord brand (made by Kohler, I think) and it does provide the ultimate easy-clean surface. Ours has little built-in nooks, and ADA grab bars, so there are some really nice features. I'm not swooning over how it looks, but it sure is practical and I have no regrets. If practical is what you want, what's holding you back? Are you concerned about resale? If so, the decision depends on your timeline for eventual sale. If you'll be in the house for a long time, think about whether styles/preferences might change before you decide to sell. It's hard to predict what someone else will prefer in 10 years. If you choose tile, avoid trendy materials and go for something relatively timeless that goes with the style of your house. Large scale tile would be great in a mid-century or modern style house. In my house, our main bath is done in plain white subway and 6x6 field tile so that it fits with the traditional style of the rest of the house. Not horrendous grout lines to maintain, and really nice looking. I agree with phyll that an accent tile (shape or color) is a great feature to include. Ours makes the shower look like an intentional aesthetic choice and not just a functional one.

Posting a drawing won't help since the space is only 50 sq. feet with the room shaped like one of those neo-angle showers with the door opening on that angled side. In addition to the corner post I was referring to, we also have to contend with an area in a different corner that is sloped because it is under a stairway. Our current shower is about 3' x 4' and we really do not want to go any smaller than this. I've heard back from my contractor who says that since the floor will be dug into anyway, we can move things around at no additional cost if we keep the plumbing within three feet of where it is now. So, at least in theory that gives me some more choices maybe. We are fortunate in that we are not in the position of saying we can absolutely only spend xxx. However, for a basement shower enclosure there is no way in the world I want to pay $1500 to $2500 just for glass (and probably a lot more if I try to go with what I want which is a shower that has two glass sides). These are ballpark prices I found from an old thread here on how much frameless glass costs. "$1,400 - $1,900 for most showers including installation, 10 ml glass, door, fixed panel and hardware. Larger showers with multiple sides, special hardware can range from $ 2,500 - $8,000 +" And another from a month ago. " There are a lot of options in hardware and glass. Expect 1700-2500. Depending on options and how square the opening is." Actually we are planning to do all of the tiling ourselves after the contractor frames it and gets the cement board up. So that is my DIY savings possibility. Now I am back to the question one again though of whether a tile floor, rather than using one of the standard acrylic pans that comes with enclosures, will force me into the custom glass category. Okay, first things first. Where do you plan to stand when you try to swing the door closed in that toilet cubicle? You're going to have to stand on the toilet to close and open the door. Then...Your shower head will be pointed at the window wall. But, you haven't allowed for how far the shower head will stick out from the wall (nor for the space a person occupies). Your shower is 39 inches wide. My very ordinary shower head sticks just over 9" out from the wall. That leaves you 2 1/2 feet to stand in. I'm a slim guy, and I'm 12" thick (front to back). That means if I'm standing in there, I can not get more than 18" away from that shower head--and that's only if I'm plastered tight against the far wall! That is the completely wrong location for that shower head.

IMO a tub along the right wall should be no issue and much better than a corner tub which are always a PITA to clean around. A nice deep soaker tub and a shower will fit quite easily on the right wall with even the linen storage. This kind of layout would work for sure and in your space the linen storage could be glass shelves in between th e tub and the shower to keep this looking nice and open your vaity shoudld be able to handle all the other storage .So Iwould do only nice shampoo and lotion bottles and towels on the glass shelves .
