Birthdays

My youngest turned three today. Luckily, SD ignored his b-day as she did the 7 y.o.'s a month ago. Despite promising on multiple occasions to take them shopping for a toy, she did nothing except show up for cake. I didn't have a party or anything, just some cake and ice cream for us and the kids.

I was really happy that she showed up empty-handed as she does seem to favor the younger two boys over my oldest and I think he'd have been crushed if she handed his little brother something after promising him something and never delivering.

There was a bag from a toy store laying on the floor and my oldest asked what was in there. I said, "Oh these are from Miche (our asst)! Isn't she sweet and thoughtful! She bought each of you a float for the pool and a Slip-N-Slide for you all to share and I expect a nice thank you note to be written immediately!"

I'd feel awful if I were my SD since our employee remembered the boys' birthdays. But, she didn't appear to be the least bit uncomfortable or affected. The oldest's was a month ago, the baby's today, and our middle son's is next month.
