livebetter, Thanks for the info about the testing. Makes sense. I agree about the long term issues with fading and/or harshness some detergents may have. Good point! The Ecos is fine for non soiled clothing, gets the job done. I haven't used the Vaska that much. Trying to use up some of my Eco's stock first! My nose thought the Vaska wasn't as natural, but I could be all wrong. Do you have Ralph's stores? I noticed today while shopping with a friend, that the Clorox Green Works small jugs are on clearance. This store had all 3 scents. It isn't near the savings that Costco has currently with the coupon, but better than nothing. stbonner, I currently use a GE Harmony TL w/out the heater. I see very little suds when using the 3 eco friendly detergents talked about. Sometimes I'm tempted to add more detergent. I don't. The Tide Free and Clear produces suds of noticeable amounts, but not excessive in my machine. I'm not a fan of it. larsi, I believe I owe you the credit for your reviews of the Greenworks! Thanks! I do wish Costco carried the Lavender scented version though...

Hi Chipshot- After I posted I went and checked my supply of Charlie's liquid and found that I needed some more. I called them and a very helpful gentleman steered me to the powder rather than the liquid. I'm going to give it a whirl. I also bought 3 bottles of the stain remover for my mother, daughter and myself. The Charlie's guy told me to buy some STPP or real TSP from the paint store and put 2-4 TBLSP in with a load of towels for 3-4 washes. He said that the "crunchies" would wash out and from then on I could use vinegar. He thinks that the water out here is harder than usual. The Miele installer ( from my dw) doesn't think so, but I'm willing to give it a whirl. Vinegar alone did nothing. I tried that for over a month with no results. I think you may have something there that DD is using too much detergent. She bought some soap from Melaleuca-- I think it's an Amway type of company. She was supposed to have 80 loads or something and the bottle was almost empty when I saw it. I can't imagine, even with 2 little ones that she did that many loads. I'll try and tell her gently... BTW when she used that detergent the kids clothes didn't smell!

@mamapinky - If I had your detergent stash I'd have fun with the try outs people send and never look to spend a penny on laundry detergent again. Alternately open a laundromat! LeB does have some kind of conditioner but so many other products do a super job. In my case, my sheets are old so I'm looking to preserve. I just sold four sets and the excellent condition helped. But for most it doesn't make much difference. You will love this story pinky -- I have a young friend with a Samsung front loader. She was asking me about expensive towels because she was going to throw hers out. They smelled horrible and musty and she couldn't get the odor out. Well, you know the story. She had no idea about laundry practices and was doing everything on cold. I sent her a small bag of Persil and told her to wash everything on hottest first, then hot. Problem solved, of course. The other day we were talking on the phone as she was looking at linen sheets. I mentioned something about LeB. 'Oh no," she said. 'I wash with Persil and hot water and I'm not changing." She also said she pays someone to iron a set of sheets for her once a week and that has made all the difference. She travels a lot for business and stays in fancy hotels. Wanted her bed at least as nice. So many of us don't travel to fancy places but it feels good to be pampered by having beds that are just as nice, if not nicer.

There are many green laundry products. Grab Green unscented (which the OP wanted) gets an A from ewg. Biokleen products get an A. Ecover Zero gets an A. Mollys Suds gets an A. Then there are Planet Products, Seventh Generation, Whole Foods Unscented Powder, plus a few other brands like Fit and Green Shield which all get A. Then you can work your way down through the Bs. The grab green pods with fragrance, which I like a lot, get B. I agree with Larsi on the result. Things like Tide, Cheer etc get much lower ratings.
