Johnmari, Thank you for sharing about the many variations on white. Now I'm a little worried. We really don't have $ to go for custom treatments. If I go with the white, maybe I should order, try one, and then understand I may have to return? Yes. Absolutely. That was JM's point and what I assumed (and shouldn't have) you already knew. You need to have a plan to check the color before you commit. Or, as Annz said, there are many other resources out there at about the same price point as JCP where you can obtain samples before you buy. My Lowe's for instance has a nice supply of take home color samples for blinds and plantation shutters. You mention a mix of mission and contemporary - again, either would work. Someone made the point the wood tones do not reflect as much light into the space -- that is accurate. If you have abundant natural light, might not be such a concern. But if you're having trouble deciding between the two, that factor is something to consider. Exterior - Again, either can work. It's a matter of your deciding which choice, white or wood, is going to fit best with the design and look you're marching towards interior as well as exterior. Maybe make a spreadsheet and list the pros and cons of each color choice to help you see which one 'fits' best at least on paper.

Thanks for sharing the edesign information. I think it's cool she gave you 2 options. I had a local designer help me with colors in my remodel. Overall it was immensely helpful, but I was surprised to get just 1 color recommendation per room. I guess many people just want the designer to tell them what to paint, while I was looking for help in narrowing down options. A design blogger I follow advises designers NOT to give options because it makes the client think the designer doesn't know which color is right... Also re: dark counter--I had mostly settled on black granite in my kitchen, but started second guessing it. I was sure the designer was going to recommend marble-look quartz. She picked up the black sample, said "This is interesting....I LOVE IT!" Now it's in my kitchen, and I love it too!

Should I go with a bright white that has no undertones, or a soft bright white like Milk glass? I keep going back and forth with the two. The other colors shown are 2 accent colors and crisp muslin for main color. What is your thoughts on bright white cabinets? I also want to add that my counter tops are uba tuba granite. I was thinking maybe white on trimming, and doors for contrast, and milk glass on just cabinets? Not sure if I want super white cabinets. Thanks

i think the best color to do would be white only because adding any darker color on the ceiling will make the room feel smaller, and darker. maybe don't go with a stark white, but stick within the white family cream family. maybe do chantily lace by Benjamin moore.
