Hi Trish, I'm so glad to see that you are still looking in on us from time to time. I had a little problem in the form of a heart attack a month ago, so this year's flower growing has been put on hold. I was able to sell a lot of my starts, and my flower-growing friend is going to cut quite a few of the things that were already in the ground. Luckily, the business is small and only a hobby for me. Our task is not to predict the future, but to enable it. The ASCFG Price Index is back! We've just completed loading it to a new hosting service. This version is a kinder, gentler, faster and more flexible version of the previous price index. It's easier to use requiring less information while still providing the important information needed. Before it is released to all members, a few volunteers were needed to test it. The testing needed to be done this past week (January 28-February 2). Owl- If you want to focus specifically on bulbs then I would consider Lillies first. Oriental and Asiatics. People go crazy for them and they command a good price at market. I also grow about 1500 mixed Dutch Irises. They grow from a bulb and not a tuber like many other irises. They are the first flowers I bring to market, about the third week of May here in SE Pennsylvania. I sell them 10 stems for $5.00. Very beautiful. Mine go dormant after they bloom and send their leaves up again in the late fall. Sources for lillies and bulbs are Van Engelund, Zabo plants, and Langveld but there are many more out there. I highly reccommend that you pick up a copy of Allen Armitage's book "Specialty Cut Flowers." It has all the information you need to grow, cut, and store your flowers. Each variety has its own particulars, especially when it comes to the "right" time to cut it. Good Luck, Carin

Hey!! I live Waaay.. out here.. I know they have a place in Aledo..I wish I could give you the name...DH will be home soon I know he will know..LOL I googled mulch and compost in FM and found a couple...Asplund(however it is spelled...LOL) has to pay to dump loades of chipped wood.. We get a couple of loades each years..If you are anywhere near where they are working they will gladly give it to you for free.(chips..) I keep my eye out for those boys..LOL Chena
